Ok, so I bought this system from RIPP back in 03, put it on the car, car ended up sitting then the SDS shaft had issues, sent it in for repairs, got it back, car sat again. Since the SDS went on it's only been driven about 500 miles until a couple months ago when I finished it up and have since put about 1000-1500 miles on it. At first it drove ok, symptoms were what was described in the instructions but did not resolve with use.
Now, RIPP has told me they discontinued the "black box" and have no recommendations for what to replace it with, or if it needs replaced.
Car has run decent, dies at stops which is embarrassing to say the least, idle is rough and I get the P0105 and P0300 codes with a P0302 last. Couple days ago the car started not wanting to start, takes a couple cranks to get it going, idle is really bad, higher rpm's seems to be ok when you give it gas but basically it doesn't stay running.
Checked the Fuel pressure regulator, zero on the gage so I took it off as I did before when the fpr leaked, same thing, hard start bad idle.
Question is, what the heck do I do with this car to get it to run!!! I can't find anything specific as to replacement for the black box because I am not racing. This is just a daily driver, show car demotion, and it won't race other than stop light to stop light because it's difficult to not do that when those Ford boys pull up...
I just want it to run, every day without a lot of hassle and get me where I need to go, do any of you have any suggestions? I don't know of any shops in my area that tune much less tune Mitsubishi, there was one in Spokane but it seems to be gone now. ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED!
When I bought the system I had my own shop and was getting into the sport compact thing but I am not current so I need help.
The system I got was the SDS, black box, injectors, fpr etc. and was one of the first ones... if that helps at all.

theres a lot your going to need to do to get it running right. First remove those injectors because they are crappy 310cc venom injectors. Replace them with either a good brand of 440cc injectors (RC, precision, etc) or get some wrx injectors. Remove that Crappy Malpassi FPR as well and replace it with a good fpr. I like aeromotive personally. Your also going to have to remove your stock fpr and get a fitting for the fuel rail if it doesnt have one. Redo the piping to suck thru set up and get a BOV that you can recirculate. Get rid of that black box and get good piggy back (emanage, aem fic, etc). You could also do a ecu swap and run big maps if you dont want to run a piggy back. Or if you have a lot of money you can run a standalone.

Once all thats done get the car tuned. If you have any questions about the things ive mention search the forums because this stuff has been discussed

Thanks for the info, it's a start. I planned to re-do the tubing, it sucks, no idea why they did what they did but it's ugly and doesn't fit well. The Malpassi puked as soon as I got the car running so it is gone but all I could find was a cheap one on ebay which now doesn't work either so I will look for aeromotive since I didn't find anything else.
Biggest thing is finding a good tuner, I am in Washington State and so far have not found one even in Seattle or Portland, anyone have any suggestions there?
Do you have any pics. of what you have done, assuming you have the same car?
Thanks again for the info, it's a start!

Get it tuned buddy...don'

@TrickiT

I had exact same issues as you are having with my RIPP kit. Car wouldn't run right, backfire, running super rich, died at stops.

I finally took it to a tuner last week and they got rid of Black box and BRAT box and re-flashed the ECU with some ECU flash software.

They had to adjust the idle from TPS and throttle body screw and they also changed some settings for TPS in the ECU to keep the car running at 900rpm which works great now. No more embarrassing stalls.

You are easily looking at around $2k of work including tuning and labor and parts to get injectors and other things replaced as needed.

I would say take the bite and get it tuned. You will be glad at the end that you did.
