Hey Yall,
A friend of mine just totalled her Jetta 1.8T and is willing to sell me her turbo. I was wondering if a turbo from a 1.8t would fit in my 2002 GT. I really have no idea how the mechanics of this kind of thing works but I do know I want a turbo lol. So is there any way I could make it fit?
-thanksss
I'm unfamiliar with the turbo size in the 1.8T but do you know what model that turbo is? I would imagine that it is probably too small for a stock GT engine but it does not hurt to check to be sure.
that's the KKK K03...
KKK was purchased by Borg-Warner and is now 3K-Warner
runs at 12psi
it would work fine for a GT with stock internals
since ur guy's motors can't take any high boost lol
but that turbo has a tendency to go bad rather quickly
The K03 uses a very small 4mm turbo shaft. Because of its size, the shaft becomes unstable excessive rpm, regardless of how well the turbo is balanced. As the shaft becomes unstable, it wobbles, and if the shaft wobbles, the blades will eventually scuff the side of the housing...or worse. Another limitation is the boost level itself.
the K03 doesn't produce very good boost beyond about 12 lbs. The blade pitch is not designed to sustain boost beyond that threshold.
way to small.. ull be fully spooling at idle
