Congrats on the new car, and welcome to Club 3G!

I've never dropped the fuel tank myself. My guess is to watch out for all the evap hoses that might crack if you remove them.

Personally I'd consider cleaning and inspecting the fuel tank without dropping it. Sure, you want to be sure you got it nice and clean. But if you can check in in place, like with a camera or something, that would be ideal.

Also, you should inspect the fill neck while you're working on that area. There's a plastic guard inside the rear right wheel well that protects the fill neck from flying rocks, but it also traps rocks that grind like gizzard stones, and dirt that traps moisture. All of which leads to bad corrosion. It's a very common problem. If you have to replace it, now's the time to do it.
