I started working on cars at about the age of 12. My dad had an old flathead Ford. Dual carbs, hot cam, dual exhaust. We ran a water alcohol ejector [technology of the day] to limit any pinging. I went on to Volkswagen air cooled's. Worked in all manner of import cars in independent shops. Worked in Ford, Volkswagen, Fiat, Renault dealerships. Worked in the local school district bus barn that had a fleet of 150 vehicles. A lot of times in the dealerships I preferred to work on the used cars, but also did warrantee and customer pay. I did an engineering apprenticeship in middle age. Now I only own Japanese or European cars. I also have 3 British motorcycles. I really do not need to go on social media and listen to young ones whine about how bad the world is treating them. I was out making money to supplement the family income and buy my own clothes for school when I was in Jr.High School. So young ones, quit crying and get busy. I have NO sympathy. ...J.D.
