Additives are bad , myth or true ?

Hi,

Every time when I go to the gasoline station.... the seller offered me an injector additive for my car... but I am afraid to use it.. Due to some mechanics say that is too bad to us additives for that.. Because the garbage in the gasoline ... to the injectors and can damage them...

What is your opinion regard this according to your experiences... ?

Also for the Oil Additive for the engine to long the life motors and compression etc.

That is true or myth ?

Thanks

depends on what you use. instead of using just injector cleaner go with some seafoam. it cleans out all the carbon. and another good name is lucas, stp.

or if you are going with a octane booster go with some, NOS, stp 101, but be careful some of the labels will say 30% on them..for gas mileage. stick with brand names
Every since I bought my car in September I have kept track of my miles per tank. The first few months I knew something was wrong, and I couldn't even get 300 miles/tank. So, since then, I've been experimenting with different gas and different additives. I tried STP, Gumout, and Lucas all on 87, 89, and 93. Long story short, I went from sub-300 miles to 346 on a tank with 89 and Lucas. 93 octane didn't give any noticiable benefits.

A local gas station has posted that they do not add alcohol to regular and premium, so my current tank has their premium and a bottle of Lucas in it...we'll see how that works out.

I know there are a lot of factors that go into this, this is just plain old driving and I tried to be as consistant as possible, but to answer your question, I like Lucas :)

Chris.
(while im still N/A i thought i'd post)

i do 93 octane gas with STP /or/ Outlaw octane booster every time and get roughly 300-320 miles to the tank (that is mixed between city and highway and i do go a little high with my rpms)

Yea he can use seafoam every fill up if he doesn't mind changing his oil every week :ugh2:

Only stuff Id ever put in my car, and that I actually noticed a difference from, is Marvel Mystery Oil.

And why would he have to change oil every week?

Jesus, go up to the top and click the search button and type in Seafoam, you'll get a whole thread. After your done reading that you'll see that Seafoam is a harsh additive that cleans your engine, removing the carbon which is now in contaminating your oil, so you'll need to change it. Though if you dont mind having contaminated oil lubing up your engine go right ahead :yesway:
I use Lucas Oils fuel injector cleaner. On a full tank of gas, I can easily put on 380 miles, under normal driving conditions. I've used it since 2004 and am very pleased with my results.

Yah IF you run it in your oil.
No need to change it if you just run the seafoam in the gas. If your engines working correctly there shouldn't be any oil involved in any of the space from gas to exhaust. If there is oil in your combustion chamber your burning oil an d need to fix your motor.
All the carbon build up comes out the tail pipe. Thats what that white shjt is.

I used the marvel mystery oil in my crankcase and tank...stopped the lifter tick instanltly (startups)...but haven't noticed any improvements on mileage. I got around 410 to the tank I believe (31 mpg)

Yea its really good stuff, I use it in my oil once every oil change and they make these little $1 shot bottles that you pour in your gas tank. I use it everytime I fill up.
ha, Idk why yalls gas mileage is so bad, I use 93 octane, no "booster" and I get on average 350-400 miles per tank.

Thats city/highway mix as well.
Like my cousin tells me, additives are like vitamins we take. They help, but do not FIX the problem.

WTF?? 400 miles?? That's almost twice what I get. That lifter tick does annoy me sometimes...

:uh: wow, talk about resurrecting a dead thread with this tidbit of worthless information
well since its open i use a bottle of 108 octane booster and i can deff tell a diff in the way my car runs. I also add the bottle to about 3/4 of 93 octane

I run 87 octane and beat the piss out of mine and ive never gotten less than 400 to a tank with the highest being 445 on the highway
