Ok guys I was recently informed in another thread that people who install megan racing coilovers have a problem with breaking stabilizer end links. So I figured, how can this be? When I had Tein's in my car everything fit right, so whats the deal with megans? It was then announced by a few members that the tab that the stabilizer link goes into was welded on to the strut at an angle different than stock which put alot of stress on the stabilizer link, causing it to break. With that being said, I figured, OK I will do some homework on this because I bought megans but didnt install them yet. So today was D-Day, I went to install the megans and this is what I found. Not only is the tab welded at the wrong angle, but the tab is also at the wrong height, at least on mine it is. If you are looking at the strut, picture it like this, there are the two large bolt holes where the strut mounts to the knuckle, if you measure from the top bolt hole to the bolt hole where the stabilizer link goes on the megan and make the same measurement on a stock strut, there is roughly 3/4" less distance on the megan. This is a problem because now once the links are attached, it forces the stabilizer bar down and the stabilizer bar rests on the lower control arm. Maybe it is a little more pronounced for me since im using a RMDSM front stabilizer bar, but that bare is only a millimeter or two larger than stock, so the bar aint making it like this. I have contacted megan racing about this and I am waiting on a response. If you have megan coilovers can you try and get a pic of the lower control arm and the stabilizer bar and see the clearance (or lack there of?)

Here are some pics I took for reference. I hope for everyones sake that only I got the shoddy ones and not everyone has the problem.

Wow, thats bad! Guess I got lucky being in the first group buy! They better stand behind it but as I mentioned in the other thread, I would contact Wesellcarparts as they are Megan's dist.. Make sure they are in the loop on this!
Yeah my coilovers are like the ones pictured above. I really don't see it as being that big of a deal. If megan did decide to fix the problem, the easiest way would be for them to supply new endlinks that fit.

I bought some new ebay endlinks, and they have not broken yet. If they do break, then I will try to make some endlinks with heim joints. They are pretty cheap. I belive the parts could be found at a place like below.

I already got the insanely thick Moog endlinks. Im not worried about the endlinks breaking, im worried about not being able to leave the driveway. This thing is sooo far off that I cant even steer. The wheels only turn half way each direction, if I try to go further I just get stuck because the lower control arm and the stabilizer bar/link are binding up. Im not talking about the common problem with them side loading due to the bracket being welded at the wrong angle, my bracket is welded at the wrong heigh, its 1/2" too low, so in reality I either need them to send me the wright part, or end links that are 1/2" shorter.

I checked mine tonight, and the links and LCA have more than enough room. It is possible that you are having more of a problem because of the RMDSM sway bar. Just a suggestion, but you could always cut 1/2" out of the links, reposition them, and then weld the links back up. I don't think the heat from welding would cause any damage to the ends.

The only thing that I do not like about going that route would be the lack of dust boot. There are dust boost available for rod ends, but I don't know where to get them or how they secure to the rod end. It looks like whiteline has some nice universal links with dust boots, but I don't know the price.

Yeah I have been looking into that. The whiteline ones you posted are more of a heim joint rather than a link end. check these guys out

www.powergridinc.com

those guys make an adjustable end link kit for the 8g galant which we know is interchangeable with the 3g. But they also sell just the ball ends/nuts, im wondering if I can get 4 of those and a length of SS threaded rod and make my own. The only thing im mad about is that I shouldnt have to be doing any of this fabrication to make someone else's poorly built product fit. I am waiting on a call back from megan about this issue. I had Napalm measure the lower mount on his JIC coilovers and measuring from the center of the bottom bolt (that goes to the knuckle) to the center of the bolt hole for the swaybar link on the strut. Napalms measurement is within 1/16" of my STOCK strut but 1/2" more than my Megan, which means my megan is 1/2" short. 1/2 is alot of space, thats the reason my lower arm is hitting the swaybar.

I know what your saying about the RMDSM bar but I doubt thats it as its only about 1mm larger then stock.

mods can you please lock this thread up.

I have started another thread explaining the details as megan racing is going to correct this problem
