Alright I need to find a oil cap that seals better or tighter for FI cars. I am under the suspicion that I am losing a bit of oil through the cap. Since I get oil going down bottom of the SDS shaft and dripping a bit sometimes. Its not a whole lot. But I believe that culprit is the oil cap is not sealing well. I have the aftermarket Mitsu one.

Tried to use two gaskets under the oil cap and I just blew the cap off. So I am looking for something a bit stronger. If anyone has any ideas let me know. I seen after market ones for the Eclipse but not sure if they are going to be better or worse.

Thanks,

~Kris

BTW is the 95-99 Turbo 2G oil cap the same as the 3G?

Kris, honestly i think your best bet is to relocate the filler cap. Take it to a welder. I, too, had the oil leak problem from the filler cap because you have to shave that thing down so much.

I have the same issue with my after market cap. I used to use an injen, but it looked ratty. HIJACKER is right and I'm going back to it.

I'm still having a hard time understanding why it leaks. I have Ripp's 30 psi PCV valve, so unless it has failed, there is no way my crankcase is getting pressurized by my SDS. The stocker cap always had a wet gasket when I was N/A, so I guess a lot of oil gets splashed there. :dunno:

Wait, what do you mean "...I just blew the cap off."?

Curious if anyone is using this style oil cap. I have one and plan to use it but I'm not done with my FI install yet. I think ashpimp is using the same one but I'm not sure if his has seen boost yet either. I seems to fit TIGHT, much more so than the OEM. Hopefully this will do:

I put two gaskets together. Making a gasket sandwich. When I let punched the car to about 20psi. I managed to blow the cap right off. I mean the metal tab thats under the cap that holds on to the valve cover went from being like this ____ to looking like this \__/.

before i try and relocate it why not just try to change the way it seals? The screw on type is the best
Yeah so the only way to change it is to modify it. By closing off the old hole. Then welding on a new fitting with screw type. And you can do that by just getting a -12AN bung and then just get a -12AN plug. It would be big enough to fill oil with.

I used to have one like that but I took it off. Why? Because it took forever to cool down since its metal. (ie: when you check your car between runs)
