Black smoke and loss of power

I raced a car earlier today, afterwards my car started sounding like a v8.. all throaty.. i have rippmodds and hit around 5psi boost.. the oil pressure gauge goes crazy now whenever i press the gas it goes all high, then I get small amount of black smoke from the exhaust.. the car idles fine, the piping is all connected securely, the SC seems to bee working fine as well.. car doesnt overheat.. just has a loss of power and v8 sounding exhaust with some black smoke

anyone have an idea what this could be?

Loss of power, Black smoke, Oil pressure goes crazy when stepping on gas peddle. Im guessing your problem lies some where in that region?
Sounds like you've got an oil leak to me.
check your spark plugs and see if you fouled them
If you're lucky, it's just a spark plug, but it doesn't sound like it.

Check the engine oil for both coolant and gas.

Check the coolant for oil.

Any codes thrown?
Are you turbo'd or? Almost sounds like the turbo took a dump!
BLACK SMOKE= too rich.....sounds like you have a spark problem.....take your two and a half hours and check ALL your plugs..............Recently i hit a 13psi spike and blew the ceramic off of my number 1 plug(cheap azz NGKS)........i had the same symptoms you are having when that happened!

wow i hope this is the case, makes me feel a bit better.. im dreading replacing my motor again.. ill check this out on my day off..

as for the oil pressure gauge, it wasnt working real well beforehand... at first it was fine then after a while i wouldnt read anything unless i was at high RPMs..now after that race it just jumps up like crazy at the tap of the gas pedal..

i have no water in the oil.. i drove it around like 15 miles after this happened and it wouldnt shut off or overheat..
how can you tell if your sparkplugs are fouled? just the ceramic breaking or could it also be the electrode part?
Just pull one and see what it looks like

It doesn't necessarily mean that it's too rich -- it just means that fuel is not getting burned. You can put in the correct amount of fuel and still have it not burn properly if there's a problem with the plug, problem with compression, etc.

Check the plugs first, because they're the cheapest. If you repeatedly have a problem with plugs, consider going down a heat range.

If your oil pressure gauge was never steady, you can probably relax a little bit on the possibility of more catastrophic failures.
i have crappy copper plugs, you need irridium right.. i remember not being able to find them anywhere.. where do you guys get yours and what type do you get?

actually copper plugs have a better spark then iridum plugs those are just made to last longer. but the coppers will give you a better spark but for a shorter time. IMO i would get some zex plugs. i have them and have never had a problem with them.they are a colder plug made for motors that are boosted or are on spray.
I would pull all plugs and check for mechanical damage and do a compression or leak down test. ASAP It sounds like you could have possibly broken a piston. The bouncing pressure gauge really concerns me.

yea that oil pressure gauge has me worried too.. sunday night on my day off ill find out.. scary :sadwavey:
