Hey guys, I got an 03 GT with an aftermarket deck and shitty Pioneer speakers that the owner before me put in. I have a problem where after my battery is disconnected and reconnected, no sound comes out of the speakers, just a very low frequency bass that you can only hear if you turn the volume to near-max. I took it to Best Buy and the guy quoted me 100 bucks to fix it...and I'm thinking about replacing my deck with a double din in the future so I passed on that offer....has anybody had similar problems or can offer any advice?

first, what makes a speaker shitty? i've demo'ed component sets costing well into the $600 range--fully ready to drop the money to put them in my car, and i ended up with a set that cost less then $200--not because it was all i could afford, that is what sounded absolutely the best to me..

but i can't really help with your situation without model numbers. i've got nothing to go off of..

pioneer decks can sometimes have funky original settings that crop up when disconnecting your battery, but how to change them depends on the unit...

Did he say what the problem was?
the problem was that no sound comes out of the speakers after a battery disconnect and reconnect.

clarity for one.. lol. I have no clue what model the speakers are.. but the deck is the DEH-3300UB which is this one DEH-3300UB - CD Receiver with USB Direct Control for iPod®/iPhone® | Pioneer Electronics USA

driving with no music is so shitty so im hoping i could figure it out sooner rather then later

^ and those are the 2 details we need.

it's a hackjob install.

that deck has a single preamp output, which means that it defaults to a sub output whenever the battery is reset. that is easily overcome by using a deck with 3ch preouts...

turn off the radio, press and hold the function key to get into the settings menu-- cycle through the menu(time/date/aux/preamp should be the order if i remember right), and fiddle with the preout until it says 'full' next to it-- it should say 'sub' right now(it's always been a weird button combo to get it to change).

Obviously haha, what I meant was if he told you what he was going to do to fix the problem.

And I would agree with soundman. A similar problem happened with my aftermarket system. I had reset the battery after an oil change to get rid of the SES light and when I tried listening to my stereo it sounded a lot quieter than it used to be, almost like I had a blown sub or something. I searched around through my deck settings even though I was sure I hadn't changed any and found that there was one setting I'd forgotten about. Switched it back and everything sounded just as it had before.

"hi, i'm looking to purchase a car with more then 3 wheels, what do you recommend?"
sound is very much personal preference-- i can't stand any car audio tweeters from any brand... if you've never noticed that, then any recommendations i could give wouldn't fit your preferences.

there is no perfect speaker that suits everyone all at the same time..

these guys don't even work on commission...so i can't understand what their motive is to rip me off lol ridiculous
i bet he'd pocket the money.
