Does anyone think lacquer thinner from the hardware store can be used to remove carbon from the intake plenum/manifold with those parts off the car? I noticed somewhere I was reading that Berkebile 2 + 2 Gum Cutter is mostly an lacquer thinner type of product. I can't find it anywhere locally. So I was trying to think of alternatives.

Just have to remove the hoses and sensors (plastic parts will melt), right?

Brake cleaner should do the trick for you along with a soft wire brush.
Is the non-chlorinated type useful for cleaning iron/steel parts that would otherwise rust from the chlorine atom?

What would you use if you were dipping the parts in a rubbermaid tub?

I hear mineral spirits hooked up siphon feed style to an air gun works but most times I just throw dirty parts in the wash tank at work and that as something similar to carbosol.. Then in the blast tanks with glass media

1. Are there any rubber gaskets or o-rings hiding in the plenum? 2. Is there anything for our zinc coated bolts that won't eat the coating off?
