Convertible top power problems (2001)

I got a 01 spyder and am having some problems with the top. One day it completely stopped working. I flipped the switch to manual and pulled the top up to get it home. Today I was checking everything and heres what I figured out: The fuse in the driver's side panel (20a) and the fuse under the hood (30a) are both good. The windows still go down with the push of the top open button and the window relays click on fine. When I push the top open and shut button, I hear 2 relays clicking down in the sides of the back seat around the power top motors. The switch is back on automatic and I'm not getting any power or ground feed to it. When I jump a hot wire to the manual/auto switch, I can work each of the top motors to close. When I jump a ground wire to the manual/auto switch and hold the convertible switch to "open", I can work each of the motors to open it. The front switch and man/auto switch seem to be working fine. So where I'm not getting power from is probably a relay or control to the switch in the back. I read there is a convertible top control module but I can't find it to test it. Anyone else able to give some advice? Thanks!

I won't pretend I read through your entire post but just in case check the button on the left side of the drunk behind the insulation. there is a button there that if shut off will not allow your top to open/close.

Yeah, that's the automatic/manual button. It's switched to the right position. That's where I'm not getting any signal to.
the convertible top control module is behind the rear seat back cusion.
Thanks! Does it sound like a problem associated with it?
Wish I could help here :( Very interested in what you find out though... I have heard of fuses looking good even though they fail a continuity test. Might be worth swapping those cabin fuses and see what happens :dunno: Prolly wont help but may be worth a shot seeing it only takes 1 minute.

Not sure what else it could be other than cut wire, loose connection, or faulty control module :( I'll keep my fingers crssed that it isn't the control module! That would probably be the most expensive fix.... that or new motor assemblies.
If you are able to operate the motors from the manual switch, then I would rule out the motors or the wiring going to them as the problem. There are no external relays for the motors, but their may be some inside the control module. Check the plug going into the control module behind the seat. It doesn't sound like it could be a bad module because it controls the back two windows, but I could be wrong. Check the 30 Amp fuse under the hood, and when I say 'check it', I mean do a continuity test on it. Don't just look at it. Fuses can develope a hairline fracture in them and they will look fine visually. Look in the Factory Service Manual in the Body section (42). There is a diagnostic for the top not operating just as you described.
pull out the multimeter. and have a friend throw the switch up front. then just replace what you have to
Yeah, just got to get around to it. My friend is currently buying it off of me and he doesn't come around that often except to make payments and show problems he can't figure out. I'll have to figure out how to get the back seat off next time he makes it over.
Same problem

My eclipse has the exact same problem. Windows go down, but not the top. I tested the motors and they work. I figured out how to get to the top computer module but have no idea how to test it. Please help
well my 02 spyder the top works flawlessly, but for some reason my rear windows are stuck down. ? rain or shine... lol
my 01 spyder gs makes a loud noise when it does up and down anybody know what the problem is?
Ancient thread but...wonder why you have that 20A fuse at the interior on your "01 and my '03 GTS does not?? I got the 30 up in the engine area but not the 20...
