I'll probally be up most of the day.
Date: June 28, 2008
Route:
Fort St. from Sibley Road to Outer Drive
GENERAL INFORMATION:
The 9th annual Cruisin’ Downriver will begin at
10 a.m. June 28, 2008 and cruise through the cities of Lincoln Park, Riverview, Southgate, and Wyandotte.
More than 500,000 car buffs and enthusiasts are expected to line Fort Street in hope of getting a sneak peek at their dream car.
There is no registration fee for the cruise itself.
Preferred access to the cruise route is Southfield Freeway, but other access will be permitted.
Each city on the route will enforce a strict code of conduct to ensure public safety; speeding, drag racing, hole shots or laying rubber will not be tolerated.
Violators will be ticketed and removed from the cruise.
Unless otherwise marked, the two curb lanes of northbound and southbound Fort Street will be designated for the cruise.
Since Fort Street will remain open for other traffic, the traffic signals will remain operational and must be observed by all.
Also from the fort street brewery:
This week is Cruise Week Downriver and we have
some fun stuff planned to celebrate. On Thursday,
June 27th at 8 p.m. we will be releasing "Rood
Roggenbrood". For those of you who forgot what you
learned in Flemish 101, that means "Red Rye Bread".
Why on earth would we name a beer that? Well, it's a
Flemish-style red ale made with about 1/3 rye,
including caramel rye. It has a uniquely wonderful
flavor of spicy rye and a hint of refreshing sourness. It's
a small batch and it's sure to go quick. On Friday, the
28th we will open at 7 a.m. for a third shift party. Come
after work or before, for breakfast and your first chance
to try "Motor City Mocha". This is the return after a two-
year absence of the very popular porter made with real
chocolate. Beer and chocolate, mmmm! I plan to have
"MCM" available for Fan Club Members on Thursday.
Saturday, June 28th is the Cruise Day and Mike
O'Brien is cooking us a giant pig! He'll be cooking all
night and it should be ready to serve at 3 p.m. For
$9.95 you'll get a 1/2 lb of succulent pork, a kaiser roll,
mash potatoes, cole slaw, and Mike's secret recipe
sauce (insert joke here). There's no better place to
watch the Cruise than here, but if you think there is,
then come in and get a growler of beer to go.
Our liquor special this week is Barenjager and
Tuaca. We have Chocolate Honey Bees (Godiva and
Barenjager) for $4.25 and Tuacacoladas (Tuaca,
coconut rum, and pineapple juice) for $3.50. Our fish of
the week is an absolutely delcious Black & Blue
Salmon served with a side of smoked salmon ravioli
and a salad. Pasta of the week is Italian sausage
ravioli in a cacciatore sauce. As always, we have $6
pitchers of Long Island Ice Tea on Wednesday and
Sunday. Don't forget Fan Club Members, all beers are
just $2.50 for you on Sundays!
See ya soon,

The annual Downriver Classic Car Cruise is
Saturday, June 28th.
We're planning to celebrate in grand fashion! We'll be
open for breakfast at 7 a.m. on Friday, June 27th (day
before the cruise). We'll have our normal Thursday
night release and then Motor City Mocha will be on tap
Friday morning, and quite possibly I will have a new
Belgian-style brown rye ale (haven't thought up a name
for it yet) on then too.
Mike O'Brien will also be roasting a pig on Saturday,
which will be ready served at 3:00pm.
