New here, just have a simple question for any of you who can answer.

I bought headers and a cat-back exhaust system, the new header pipes would ELIMINATE the 2 pre-cats in my car. Will this throw codes and prevent inspection passing?

I don't live in NY but I do live in CA. A place that NY has recently started following regarding environmental smog laws.
I'm fairly certain you won't pass inspection because they'll be looking for those two big chunks of metal hanging from your cylinder heads and if you eliminate the pre cats it will trigger your engine light to turn on because the secondary O2's will think the front cats are bad due to the lack of filtration the cats do to clean up the air coming from the combustion chamber. In New York you'll have to find somebody to pass you. They follow the same laws as CALI, all of your exhaust parts need to be CARB compliant.

Without foulers your check engine light will come on. I hope you didn't buy those cheap ebay headers that are crap.

All they really look for is engine lights.
The only thing holding me back is finding headers with the o2 bungs so I can use the non-foulers spacers for the pre cats

On my 99 I dropped the lower cat and use 2 spacers to pull the sensor out of the exhaust flow and no light popped up , ever.
