dual amp problem

Ok my dual amps worked just fine. My head unit's buttons went out so I replaced it today. Everything worked but I noticed no bass. The amp for my sub isn't coming on. If I disconnect the ground wire for the 4 channel amp then the amp for my sub comes on and works fine. WTF?

NVM. I tested the rem wire with my multimeter and it is only putting out like 90mA.
You should be testing for voltage, not current.

And then get rid of that dual crap...

I'm pretty sure he just meant that he was running two amps.

If I'm wrong though and your amps are made by Dual, yeah, get rid of them.
I am running two amps. I didn't even know there was amps called doal lol. I took it back to bestbuy got a replacement and now it works perfect. FYI: if the Ma isn't close to right there is a good chance that the voltage isn't going to be right.

V=RI
I=V/R

So..... Either to much res or maybe a half dead rec OR tooooooo little current.
Just saying current is dictated by res and voltages means you do not have to test for voltage to tell if it is bad.

That should read "mA" not "Ma" (just to be techincal ;)). I would recommend reading the voltage next time but it sounds like you have a handle on it :yesway:

For future reference: Some headunits cannot put out enough power to turn mulitple devices on using the REM wire. Using your deck's REM wire as the "trigger" wire for a relay is how you can solve that. The relay and wiring harness should be bout $10 or so. They can be purchased from any audio shop, BB, CC, Radio Shack, or even Autozone/Advanced.

FWIW, my Pioneer deck turns on 3 Orion HCCA amps, a Basscube, and a voltage regulator with no problems. The device/s being turned on will make a difference too as some require more voltage (or maybe amps) to be triggered on. I have always been under the impression that most devices just need a solid 5V to trigger... I never really thought about the amperage. :dunno:
lol if you read my first psot I got it right, but the other post was just a mistake. because m=milli and M=mega. I knew the head unit could handle both amps because when I bought it the paper work said the amp rem handles .3(300mA) amps.
