E-Brake NOT Working, AT ALL! Caused Damage!

Searched the forum, found nothing to my specific problem.

My problem is that my E-Brake doesn't stop the car under emergency. A problem i found when running into a curb at oh......50-60mph.

The Damage:

^From going up, hell of a lot of grass was chunked up too

^IMPACT!

So what is wrong with the E-Brake? When i pull it it marks "Brake" on the instrument panel, i can hear a faint rub when i pull it while slowing to stop, but i can practically drive with the brake on and no stoppage... can it be the rear pads?

You need new shoes at the least. And what the hell was the emergency you needed an ebrake for at 50-60mph? I have brand new shoes and springs and they're tight as hell and still when I pulled the ebrake to wear the shoes down a little and it slows the car down bu doesn't lock them up
Also tighten the nut under the cup holder so the cable pulls harder. Springs my be worn ou as well.
long story....really...

The car was going fast, the front brakes locked up on me for about 5 crucial seconds, didn't come down on time, pulled E-Brake nothing happened BOOM hit curb, Slowed Down...

I inspected the front due to its failure at those 5 secs, but EVERYTHING is fine, from brake pedal to master cylinder, to front pads..... occurred to me today it may be the rear pads or something
Tires, all 4 were replaced with Falken's. Pics are a little old

~i was with a friend at the time, he yelled pull the e-brake, pulled it up *click nothing.....Ahhhhh boooooom! terrible experience
So the fronts locked? Did you try to let go of the pedal?
e-brake are not for emergency brake.......
:agreed: they're to keep your car from rolling when parked

I did all i could in the little time i had, i thought of everything. When they locked, i let off, and went again, brakes went hard that time, burned rubber, pulled e-brake, Still hit the curb

To clear things up, FRONT BRAKES inspected fine, damage sorta repaired (tires), I'm just wondering why the E-Brake doesn't work at all... i tried it after the repairs and the thing doesn't do anything
if the front brakes locked then you would have come to a very fast tire smoking screeching halt, do you mean that the brakes failed to work totally, as in pedal went to the floor?

(Yes to the floor, then off, then to the floor again)
Well not totally, they worked right before the curb. They did screech&burn when approaching the curb (that's when i applied the e-brake for it to at least do something), but it was too late. My concern actually is why my E-Brake didn't do anything.... i laugh at it now as i look back but if this ever happens again, i may not get lucky
don't worry about the parking brake, worry about why the brakes failed suddenly. Its possible you have an intermittently failing master cylinder, a brake leak that sucked air, etc.

That was my worry as well... no brake fluid leaks at all, master cylinder is fine. Everything is tight as i saw, no air to come in. I really don't know what went down that day. Brakes stop on a dime, just the E-Brake (i keep saying to myself) would have saved the car from the curb. I apologize if i'm being a bit stubborn.
take the calipers off, check the pads. all of them. I've seen some pads separate from the backings lately and fall out of place, causing the pedal to suddenly 'not work' then pump back up and work again, but metal to metal on one surface.

Great tip, i'll check the rear, and front again, and see what goin on... i'll come back on Club 3g till then

Your probably not pulling hard enough:scratch: I have my e-brake set to 3-4 clicks and there locked up np.
Check out the shoes.
drew, the wider tires COULD be causing it not to lock, more contact patch means not as easy to lock. also, check the brake booster hose. if it gets cracked you lose your brakes. mine was too bad you can't buy a new one anywhere. i just used fuel line with no in line valve in the mean time while i search. you have dual piston calipers, i put the diamante ones on the 4 banger (very close to the same stuff) and under extremely heavy braking it locks the 205's up.
