I'm having a hell of a time getting my engine to start right now. I have 440cc injectors from Tearstone (I believe they are Ford Motorsports brand) and an E-Manage Ultimate sitting in front of the ECU.

The E-Manage Ultimate is wired and configured for add-only compensation on the injectors. Here are the settings in EcuFlash:

Injector Scaling: 522 cc/min

Injector Battery Voltage Latency Compensation:
4.6875 V - 6.120 ms
7.03125 V - 2.544 ms
9.375 V - 1.344 ms
11.7188 V - 0.792 ms
14.0625 V - 0.552 ms
16.4062 V - 0.120 ms
18.6768 V - 0.000 ms

When I pull out my plugs, they are saturated with fuel. I can get the engine to start by first unplugging the front 3 injectors, and later plugging them back in once the engine turns over. I know this issue is very similar to the one ryu was having, but my timing is dead-on because the engine runs perfect once I get it started.

PS: I previously used the E-Manage Ultimate to scale the injectors; this worked fine for several months, so I figure the injectors are not bad.

1st problem you have is your scaling is way to high, i have 450cc injectors and mines perfect at 411
It's higher because, otherwise, my spark plugs just foul themselves. Once I get my startup issues worked out, I'll drop the scaling back down.

The latency values in the left column are what I use for my GS with 440's.
I dont know if this helps, but my car runs perfectly with these values, and the scaling set to 360cc. :dunno:

I think your scaling being so far over the actual values and/or the Emanage fighting with EcuFlash are where your problems are coming from.

Edit: also, I've read several times on EvoM that if you are having a tough time getting your car started, you need to lower the values below 14v. I'm talking like lower them from 6.1 @ 4v to 4.2 @ 4v or so. Your's seem to be set close to stock. Just something to look at.

This helps me a bunch! Thanks

Lowering the latency compensation below 14 V seems to have done the trick! She cranks over with no problem now.

Now I just have to get ready for swapping pistons this weekend.

oh god please don't tell me you are using stock bore replacements. :(

When you have a motor that has seen a decent amount of life and mileage, a stock bore piston replacement just doesn't make sense. The piston travel in the bore eventually wears the material and the bore looses it's perfect spec.

On top of that, when you are using forged pistons, they have different clearance requirements from cast pistons. Normally they require a little looser clearance due to forged metals expanding under heat. So you are going to stick a brand new beautiful forged piston in a bore that hasn't been perfectly matched to it by a machine shop. Not only that, but you are putting new rings in on those pistons that need some material to "bed" themselves into so that you get a good seal and no blow by.

Ripp advocates drop in pistons but it is the cheap ghetto way to do it. Want me to show you pictures of Ripp pistons that were drop in replacements and what happened to them due to clearances being off? It's not pretty.

Quick Question

The ECU Flash, I have my injector scaling to 430cc. I have 440cc Ford racing green tops. I read in this post that someone has set their’s to 360cc. I have the emanage adding fuel but I would like to totally disable the emanage. The car starts and runs but I am getting a p0303 (cylinder 3 misfire) at idle. I think it might be the tune because I replaced the wires and switched the spark plugs around. Would someone be able to assist me?

My injector latency is:

4.69 6.120
7.03 2.688
9.38 2.304
11.72 1.536
14.06 0.960
