hi
i just got my second 3g and im planning on putting lots of work into this one
but i dont want to make any costly mistakes

i plan to do engine work as well as body so my question is which to do first
im going to be putting on a body kit but im also going to be adding a turbo

if i do the kit first i might have to keep removing it in order to run pipes and placing the intercooler

and if i do the engine work first how would i know where to run pipes so as to not interfere with the kit later

can anyone with more exp help me out plz

engine
but wouldnt putting the body kit on and off possibly crack it
oh wait wtf am i talking about lol you said engine
Personally, in the very unlikely event that I bought another 3G, I wouldn't spend a dime on the engine...you could spend $5000 on go-fast goodies and it would still be a turd. That is just my opinion, but it's also the reason that I would stick to show mods.

But if you are certain that you want to put money in to serious enginework, then generally speaking I would always do that before something like a kit.
Body. This engine isnt worth the cost to get it running quick.
I would say get a DSM if you want to go fast, or do body.
im not looking to take it to the track just enough to hold its own

the 3g is kinda heavy even if it had a better engine but iv always gone for looks so it is the first car i would be performing engine work on thats why i wasent sure if it was engine before body

as for the kit its going to be mix but the front fender will most likely be bomber
Well, first off do you have the 4cyl or the 6? Wait, nevermind, either way it isn't worth boosting. Get a different car.
lol wow for people with club3g most of you guys are negative closed minded fucks lol
screw this ill find out from tuners who arent limited to your way of thinking

thx for those who actually gave it thought and didnt just copy what they saw others say
good bye.

People here have turboed the 3g and know that the cost is simply not worth it. If you plan on spending around 9k on a car that's worth around 6k, go ahead, it's not our money.

The 3g is basically a car for show, not performance. Put a Wings West lip kit on it and it will look great.

Pretty much. That's why most mods that are done to the 3g can be categorized into a show category and not performance.

The only performance mods i would install on a 3g would be headers, CAI, and coilovers at the most

Many of the people who say the 3G isn't worth spending the money on go mods for straight line performance do so because they have been down the path, learned, and have moved on. If you're ready to spend 10k+ on this car to get hp gains then go for it. Otherwise don't waste your money on hp mods. Now if your looking for autox then its not a complete loss. Just research the suspension forum and make sure you don't build a car that is out of the classes the 3G can compete in.

But with the attitude you have you won't get much help around here.

The coilovers are the only thing you listed that aren't a waste of money.

you can get the fuck out of here with that kind of nonsense. You asked for opinions and you got it, so go cry somewhere else. As Crow stated, many people here have spent lots of money on their 3G and realize how poor the gains are for the money spent. That's not being a "negative closedminded fuck", that's giving you some rational advice. I considered going FI and I'm glad I didn't; that's not to say I didn't put anything in to mine--I had over $15K rolled in to my Eclipse on top of what I paid for the car, and shit, my SSRs cost more than what you could buy a used 3G for. But I built it for show and I'm glad I went that route--therefore I gave the advice that I personally felt was your best choice.

But your question is dumb anyway because the decision is really yours. The only reason I haven't locked this yet is to see what kind of response you could possibly muster.

As much as I hate to admit it most of these guys are right. There are so many cars that you can buy new or use that just have great numbers compared to our cars before 8-9k of work ie. rx-7 (my favorite), cobra mustang, 240 sx, srt-4, 300zx TT to name a few. But don't do this for us do it for you. Many people say it's a waste of money, but many still do it.
If you have a lot of money, then why not but if you are some college kid that will sacrifice his life to get his car turboed like a few people I've known to do, that's stupid IMO. With more power comes more responsibility and more maintenance. Fiberglass kits are crap, they break to easy and if not done right they look cheap after they are painted because they don't look as smooth as a car finish, so again, if you have the money to do it right like, Hijacker for example, then do it but if you don't, why waste your money.
