I've had my 3g since mid September, and please keep in mind this is my first manual also.

2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Gt.
AEM Cai
Greddy Evo 2 exhaust.
Not much more power there, but here we go.

Need much practice with my take offs. Both times spun for a good .5 sec.

First run I ran against a miata.
RT 1.478
1/8 10.642 mph 69.59
1/4 16.642 mph 76.88
the miata ran a 16.427

The second run I knew how quick the lights ran!
RT .753
1/8 10.240 mph 69.94
1/4 15.954 mph 83.81
Ran an acura (integra?) blew me away with 14.869

Again, this is my first time at a track. Definately need a new
set of wheels for better traction.
Another thing, I believe I read on here that with manuals, after
5500 rpms, you overall lose power, so that's when I was shifting, NO REDLINE.

At the end of the night, I lost both races but I enjoyed myself!
Never been drag racing before and loved it.

edit: forgot to mention, I have read a few pages on here and i did nothing for weight reduction but take out my subwoofers. I forgot all about my darn spare tire = ) That's no biggy though. I can definately see me burn 15.9 away when I get take offs down and perfect my shifting.
All comments appreciated

For weight, took subs/spare out. Did have light weight passanger(120)..
Overall, these are much better than the first 2 runs. Don't see much more
room for improvement out of just i/e. Hoping to have headers within the next
2 months.

I'm stuck working friday : \
I have 2-3 guys at work right now that all want to go the next run, so the next chance a few of us have Wednesday or Friday off, we're heading that way. I'll definately hit you up with a pm 3gFly.
Also, if you're ever in Lake Mary/Sanford, let me know and we can meet up : )

Launch at 3k rpms, shift at 6k, launch the car better and you will drop those ET's down a few tenths or more. I have an 01 GT manual, with similar mods as you, and my best pass was 15.07

If we want to go into drag racing tech, I'd suggest dropping tire pressure in the front tires to ~15 psi and pump the rears to ~40 psi. That'll help with wheel hop.

also, if you are able to, try to make ur runs with about a quarter of a tank of gas, or at least not a full tank.

All that gas is heavy, from the numbers i found real quick, a gallon of premium gas weighs 6.35lbs, so if ur running with like 4 gallons of gas as opposed to 14, thats ~63 pounds ur saving, plus take out ur spare tire and jack, another 20 lbs or so.

When thinking about weight, all I did was take out a sub/amp. I forgot to mention my buddy ran the track next to me, and yes I filled the tank before going. I've heard about people lowering the tire pressure, but I didn't even mess with it.
As for shifts, I was at 5500, and for launch I didn't start at any rev, figuring i would spin like always.

Always room for improvement and a better understanding at things. Appreciate the tips, will see where I stand next time.

You wont spin if you slip the clutch gradually. I suggest launching between 2 and 3k RPMs.

Thanks Reg, i might be going back to the track tomorrow depending on their schedule with thanksgiving, trying to get 3gfly to go with.

I can say I was quite nervous that first time at the track, which only adds to that damn wheel spin. I'm low on gas right now, and i should be riding solo next time, oh and the spare out of course. We'll get some decent numbers down this time!

Just relax, don't let the tree intimidate you. Launch when you're good and ready and listen to the car.

You are getting better. I'm pretty sure you can get better times than that too. I ran a 10 flat at the 1/8 mile track with my low compression engine. You should be able to run between 9.6 - 9.8 1/8 miles with your setup.

so i know i can do better
NOGAF. Was this honestly at all neccissary? I've been driving stick for 2-months and run mid 15's, VERY similar to others on this forum. I post my times and what I do to have input from other runners that will help improve my times. You're completely worthless to this thread. thanks
