Was driving from a friends house when I spotted this. Decided to pull in and take a quick shot.

Can't call it that.
I am sure Ford wishes they could but they do not have the rights to that name.

If that a factory paint option. If so that is awsome. I guess if they can't call it a GT-40 then they figured they would paint it like one.

The guys that run our dyno at work put a GT on that had a pulley, exhaust and some other little mods and he made around 550 hp to the wheels. That was on a dynodynamics dyno (aka heartbreak dyno) which supposedly read notoriously low #'s
Very, very excellent car. There is a shop here in Jacksonville called State 6, they have a Twin Turbo'd car like this which the owner of the shop has, he took it down to Pinks - All out (which I have video of somewhere)..

Here's a video of one of them, (I believe this was shot at HP Performance .. in Orange park..not sure though)..

Yea.. The color scheme did look like the superformance but it is def. not that. It was a replica paint job though of the gt40 race car.
It says Ford GT on the door. The superformance cars look different.

I have seen some dude on the web with a TT setup that makes something nutty like 1000hp or something like that.

That is definity cool but I would have a hard time hacking up a car like that and changing it that much and I am not even a little bit of a Ford fan. A Zo6 Vette or a Cobra sure. Those cars are a dime a dozen and although special not something quite like the GT that is so much more limited.

 We know what he's talking about, geez.

And that is not the SuperPerformance kitcar, that is a Ford GT. I've seen enough other GTs painted in the Gulf Oil paint scheme so I'm sure it's a factory option/special edition.

+1

That car is a GT-40, Ford GT, same shit. And as Mark said its a special edition model that they did in memory of the original GT-40. It definetley was not a kit car.
2006 Ford GT ‘Heritage’ livery commemorates Le Mans victories in 1968 and 1969.
Heritage Blue and Epic Orange paint scheme recalling the JW Automotive/American Gulf Oil-sponsored Ford GT racers.
2006 marks the 40 th anniversary of the beginning of Fords’ four-year domination at Le Mans .

MONTEREY BAY , Calif. , Aug. 19 – On display at Concorso Italiano, amidst a sea of red-painted competitors, a blue and orange-striped Ford GT rises above the rest, just as it did in 1968 and 1969 capturing victory at Le Mans . New for 2006, the limited-edition Ford GT ‘Heritage’ paint livery harkens back to the JW Automotive/American Gulf Oil-sponsored Le Mans-winning Ford GT racer. This unique paint scheme, one of the most memorable looks in Ford racing history, features a Heritage Blue with Epic Orange-striped exterior and four white ‘roundels’ allowing customers to apply the number of their choice.

“We’re very proud to offer the 2006 Ford GT in these timeless colors to celebrate our historic racing achievements and the high-performance and innovative technology behind our supercar,” said Carter Balkcom, Ford GT marketing manager. “The blue and orange livery is one of the most memorable paint schemes to ever be displayed on a race car. The JW Automotive American Gulf Oil Ford GT P/1075 is an iconic race car being one of only a few cars to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice.”

2006 also marks the 40 th anniversary of Ford’s remarkable four-year winning streak of the 24 Hours of Le Mans . Earlier this year, Ford announced another special exterior color, Tungsten Grey available with Quick Silver stripes, would be available on the 2006 Ford GT to commemorate that first sterling victory.

I've seen that car a few times in person. He comes down to Orlando to street race all the big HP cars once in a while. It's insane to see and hear in person.
I have to say at first glance and with the thread title though, I did think it was an original GT40, but the wheels kind of give it away as a newer GT.
