HELP no ground signal at cam position sensor

As the title states I have no ground at the pin on my cam position sensor connector. I have 12v constant but when I check for ground I have no continuity. My question is if I can ground this to the chassis or if it needs to ground from the ecu through the harness.
Maybe somebody can pull up some wiring diagrams and help because I feel like I may be onto why my car will not read my cam sensor.
