It's the easiest way and eliminates all of your problems with incorrectly made or "wacky" xml files.
Not everybody knows how to edit HEX. Yes it eliminates the XML, but then your XML still isn't right. Why not fix the XML if its the problem?

Seriously... how many people on here can be taught to edit an XML quickly? Probably alot more than can be taught to read/edit HEX in the same manner of time. Editing HEX in only better if you know how to do it already, IMO.

The same information needed to fix or create an xml parameter is needed to manually edit the parameter. If you are having problems getting things to work, ditch the dumbed down user interface and try to correct the problem manually. Then you can see if the problem is the rom or an incorrect xml file.

I didn't have problems getting things to work. Zee's was giving him problems, I gave him my definitions and it worked. Not that difficult.

Why don't you give us all a writeup on how to find and edit the parameters manually? Anybody looking to learn could benifit, and also include how to define ROMs, as I assume its all relavent information. :yesway:

I've seen it. The version I had, you had to sacrifice a key (I had it for my remote start, but its gone now). You would put a spare key into the unit and leave it inside the car wired up to your ignition. It would "Replicate" the signals produced by the key and let the car start (You would have to wrap the ignition with a single wire that acted like an antenna). They have other ones that store the key's signals so that you don't have to leave the key in the car.
sorry for bumping an old thread, my question goes with this thread. i have a remote start with one of these immobilizer delete boxes. i am replaceing my ecu and my question is will my immobilizer delete still work? Here is my plan. Replace the ecu. Keep old immobilizer. Get spare key that correlates with the ecu and stick it in the immobilizer delete and it should work right?

With the immobilizer deleted in the ECU ROM, you don't need any other box installed to start the car, just a key. The key doesn't have to be a fancy chip key either, just a plain old metal key works. I am pretty sure that the remote start would work without the workaround box with a key inside of it also.

Also, no, the immobilizer in the car has a value that is coded into the ROM. No need for the other key, since you're not moving the physical immobilizer. IF you swap ECU's, read the immobilizer number with ecuflash before physically swapping the ECU, then you'll have to input the code in the new ECU's ROM (if you want to keep the immobilizer and not delete it)

Learn the ECUs assembly language and do it yourself!! :p Just kidding. But really, you have to change the ROM to delete the immobilizer. You could probably just pay someone to do it for you. Pharmecis might be able to help you. PM him.

ive edited the xml i believe.. changing the phe to 0x000 in a rom i found for a 2001 .. it just wont let me send it to the ecu for some reason.. in fact it wont let me read off of my ecu anymore either.. i dont know what the hell is going on

its reading .. it still wont start.. i changed the immobilizer to 0x010 not sure if that is correct or if i have to find other lines to change.

Sorry to bump an old thread but I recently lost my immobilizer chip and now can't start my car. I don't have a cable and need my car asap. Is there any other way of deleting it without the cable or taking it to the dealer since it won't start.

No I'm pretty sure you're up shits creek, unplugging the battery would only reset some of the ecu features like idle and that.
Good luck but I'm pretty sure you're screwed
