Hey peeps,

So I've owned my 04 Eclipse GS for about 2 months now.

I'm on a very tight budget, but I wanted a car that I could build in a style of my own.

Anyways, I've been having a problem with my car starting.
Sometimes I go out to start it, and occasionally I will hear the started engage, but only with a loud click the the starter gear teeth and hitting the flywheel, but not turning the engine over.
Sometimes I won't even hear anything at all, except for the fuel pump running.

I can move the smaller connector hidden under the exhaust manifold (not the main power wire attached by a nut) and eventually I can get it to start.

Using a test light I found that both connections are getting power when turning the ignition.

The immobilizer is not affecting anything, from what I assume, mostly because I got a new key from the dealer, programmed and everything.

Any ideas/help?

Thanks guys

sounds like the starter solenoid is not making contact internally and not energizing the starter motor. It will work intermittently when the contacts wear out. It is possible to just replace the solenoid to save money.
