Well, I've been researching for months now, and finally pulled the trigger. Last week I bought a 2001 Spyder GS! :ndance: She's all dirty now from being trailered home almost 900 miles, and since it's bloody freezing outside, I haven't been able to spend much time cleaning her up. I've got her in the garage now, and should be able to spend some quality time with her tomorrow as the temperature is supposed to move above freezing tomorrow afternoon.

I've been itching to share her with everyone though, so I'm posting pictures that the previous owner sent me. I'll be taking my own when the weather gets better outside (and I've got her licensed and imported).

Anyhow, here she is!

Existing mods (that I know about):

Ebay intake (it appears)
Dual-Halo headlights with 6000k HID's
TYC Black Tails
Pioneer head unit
Rockford 12" sub in a crappy box
400w Blaupunkt amp (for the sub)
17" Wheels with Kumho tires
Exhaust tip (which looks pretty good IMHO)
PA System (which I'm yanking this weekend)

Future mods:

DEI NiteLite Automatic Headlight module (DRL's required in Canada, plus you never have to worry about turning your headlights on/off ever again!)
Blizzak Winter tires with steel wheels
Big-3 Upgrade Kit (on the way; thanks Ken! :yesway: )
Drop (later)
Replacement Gauges with bloo lights
Short Shifter (installed)
Tinted turns & Reverse lights (installed)
Painted vents & gas cap (working on it)

Complete audio overhaul including:

850w Soundstream amp (got it, to be installed)
1200w Phoenix Gold amp (installed)
Image Dynamics CD-1E WaveGuides (got 'em, to be installed)
CDT 6.5" Midbass Drivers (installed - awesome)
SSA Icon 10" Subwoofer (got it, to be installed)
Custom Fiberglass Enclosure
AudioControl EQX? (to be purchased)
80 sqft Second Skin Damplifier Pro Deadening (on the way)

Not sure what I'm going to do about a source unit. I had a JVC Double-DIN but sold it. I'll likely just use the Pioneer that's in there for now.
I have all the wiring and connectivity too; just need time to get it all in, once I've got the rest of the speakers. :D

About time! Congrats! Btw those are dual halo headlights not sonars. Nice list of future mods. Enjoy!
very nice!
I'm so jealous! black and convertible? drools

Seems like the paint is in a good condition. Despite the fact that a lot of black 3Gs have paint cancers.
very nice
why do you have a West Virginia plate?
Since I'm Canadian, I speak (and spell) the Queen's English.

Thanks; it seems there *might* be a touch of delamination beginning on the hood (if you look really closely - you can't see it in the pictures). I was completely aware of the potential for delamination with this colour, so I knew I'd likely be re-painting the whole car in the future anyway. There's a few nicks and scratches here and there that have been repaired with a touch-up pen over the years, so I will probably just repaint it in the summer. There's just something sexy about a black car though...I just had to have one.
Get rid of the egay intake, get some sonars or depos. The tails are nice. Also, needs a drop, big time.
Can't wait to see what it looks like when you get a drop.
not reallly likeing the rims but needs a drop big time , other than that it looks nice clean up the engine bay and get rid of that cheap intake ha
Great start. Keep it clean.
why is there piece of the stock intake and a short ram...?

either get bigger rims or a drop, that area looks bad.

but great looking paint, and nice lights all around.
that paint looks to good, and i hate my halo's.
but i love a black spyder!!! congrats.
I like it. I gotta laugh because I've been searching the net for a black Spyder rear seat backrest for a really good price and I can't find one other than ones for around $250 and here you got one. The seat color is the only thing I wish was different about my car. Have fun with it.
Nice 3G man... You wuldnt happen to have been passing through Riverdale GA today? I saw a 3G that looked nearly identical to this, the dual halos, HID, and black wheels, I dont remember if it was a spyder or not but it damn sure looked close to this one.
Nice pick-up! Drop that 4x4.
Looks like you picked up a nice spyder! I wish my eclipse would've had those rare tails on when I got it :ninja2:

Different Headlights and a drop, along with new corners and it'll look great :yesway:
Thanks for the comments, guys. I can't wait to drop this bad-boy for sure. Just not in the budget yet; my priority is the sound system. I'm going to be in this car a lot driving to and from work.

The egay intake will be gone eventually; but it'll do for now. :yesway: I plan on replacing the headlights too, but again, not a real priority right now.

I like it !
Thanks :) Me too :D

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the wheels either, but again, they'll do for now. I want to replace them eventually with 18's, but all in due time.

why is there piece of the stock intake and a short ram...?
Whoever installed the intake left the stock snorkel on for some reason. It's already off.

Nope; I trailered her home from North Carolina on Sunday and Monday. Home for me is just outside Toronto, Canada, so it definitely wasn't me in Georgia. Plus, it doesn't have plates yet, so I can't drive it.

On a positive note, I received my import approval documentation today so I should have her on the road by around wednesday next week! :ndance: The last time I imported a vehicle from the US it took 3 weeks to get that paper. Interweb for the win! :D

BTW...happy new beer, peeps!
