I was just on SBL and came across these:

Our exclusive LX5 series bulbs use a 3 Watt Luxeon side emitting LED and 4 High Power surface mount LEDs
Achieves light outputs even higher than standard filament bulbs
220 degree beam angle illuminates entire tail light lens

Current Draw and Lumen Output @ 12VDC:
1156-xLX5 - 320ma - 132 Lumens

They look like they have a higher current draw (about 8x) than a standard LED. Could these negate the use of load resistors?

That's still a lot less than the 2.1A draw of the filament 1156. Dissipation will still be less than 4 watts, compared to the nearly 27 watt dissipation of a filament bulb. I think you will still need load resistors.

Yeah, you're right. I thought maybe it would hit the "cut-off" and could be a direct replacement. Wishful thinking, huh?

Sorry to bump an old thread, but has anyone got these and tried them? Do they work nice? Do you need the resistors for sure? Think of getting a set but wanted to hear from others to see.

I was also wondering if anyone has got the Electronic LED Flashers and as to how they work with the rear blinkers?
