Looks like manufacturers are gearing up to tap into the low-mid range market more and more with stabilized lenses. This could make the hobby more accessible to many more people who otherwise can't afford to.

Destined to happen. Digital cameras are like DVD players and any other new tech. You pay more to get into it early. Just like Blu Ray players will be $100 next year, you'll be able to get a DSLR package with kit lens for under $300. I wouldn't be surprised if Canon re-releases the Rebel G in digital form for $299.
