Hey guys, just got my 2001 Stratus R/T lowered, and I'm having some issues with it. I used Tein-S tech springs, and KYB GR-2 shocks.....and now after an alignment it should be all set right? Well I have a shake/vibration only when I press on the gas. Has anyone had this problem or have any ideas as to what is wrong with it? I'm going in tomorrow morning to try some diffrent wheels(16in ) but after that I'm going to get charged up the ass if they start taking things apart again....I'd like to avoid that, but it was suggested to put the stock shocks back on because KYB lowers the spring perch(I didn't know that) Thanks Guys/gals!!!!

Here are some pictures

Shake/vibration in the steering wheel?

I can feel it in the gas pedal....only during acceleration. Then it feels like the whole car is vibrating.
If I'm not mistaken when viberation is only during acceleration it's usualy a drive shaft problem cus it's under a load but I could be wrong.
My friends Car does that. He has a 02 eclipse GT and his does the same thing when he takes off. He thought it was the tranny but it wasnt. It still does it today and we havent a clue. We thought maybe it was because he lowered on the stock shocks but i lowered on Stocks also and mine doesnt do that. Since you have KYBs then that wouldnt be it. But im not sure what that is but........ im thinking maybe its the STock RSA's. From exspereince with that tire on my past cars they do weird things.I have a slight vibration but its not bad. So im thinking its the tires. I dunno.

Even if it is a drriveshaft problem, and I replace them(halfshafts) they will still be the same length.....therfore I'll still have the same problem right?
looks like you need a camber kit on the rear! Bad.
hope that doesnt happen with my car next month. sounds pretty shitty. what setting are you on?

LOL there IS a camber kit in the rear....but the guy that did the allignment didn't tighten the bolts enough, and on the way home I hit a pothole...now my steering wheel is off center...I'm pretty sure I heard the camber kit come loose....hmmm and he wrote out right in the recipt NO WARRANTY ON LOWERED CAR so I can't take it back to him.....

what setting are you on?
I assume you mean on the shocks...umm I used kyb gr-2's(non adjustable) not the kyb agx.....

oh duh, sorry. :ghey:
Re-check every bolt/nut that was touched during the install including the upper strut bolt AND the wheels lug nuts. That's the best way to start. If the problem JUST started once the car was lowered, something from lowering caused the problem.
My 01 Spyder GT/sporty trans has been doing that for years. It almost feels like mild wheel hop under hard acceleration, but it's not. My car has been lowered for three years, and I honestly can't remember if it did it before I lowered or not. I'm running Eibach Pro/Koni yellows, swapped out tires, wheels and put in a new steering rack and 4 new motor mounts last year (F/B, L/R). I've had the whole suspension in and out four times and still no change. I think it's something in the drive train. It isn't real bad, so I've learned to live with it.
There’s an answer for this that I saw something about putting some washers on the drive shaft will fix the issue, I can’t find the thread now, help me look if you would and link it. I can’t remember what I was searching but I do remember is was someone else quoting @Silvertune to put the washers there when the car is lowered because the shake is from the driveshaft being misaligned somewhat after we lower these cars. I link it if I find it because I am having this issue now and know the answer is here somewhere. I saw it already once.

Lmk if you find that link. All I remember is that axles and/or stock struts may wear faster when lowered. I'll be lowering mine soon, so any "trick" that prevents premature wear would be helpful.
However, I don't want to hear anything about tennis balls stuffed in the springs, ok? 🤣
( That was for you, @Widgmaster)
No, No, No @Sisyphus58 ... I meant for you to put your...okay...you see where this is going.

I have coils so not on just lowering springs but most should still apply. Almost have my shake entirely removed. Next step for me I believe is poly engine mounts. However as for the KB coil guys, very lowered and the questions this thread did t really have answered Silvertune replied to the linked thread so further explanation is in there as well directly from him. And I didn’t find the post I was reading but I do think I found the post that the one I was reading was referencing. So yeah the Washer answer is in the linked thread as well.
The reason most people lower their cars is because of the wheel gap, I saw this today at a Shoppers Drug Mart, Holy crap
