you either still have the steel shell of the stock mount in there still, use a hacksaw to cut that shell in 3 or 4 places and pry it out, or you need to use some lube and a rubber mallet to pop them into place.

Heh please forgive the noob! LOL

Actually one good slice with the hack saw is enough, once cut through just get behind it with a screw driver & it should pop out!

After the noob thing I suppose your so hurt that you won't give me the time of day regards working with you on the Tempe fixup?

You going to PIR in Jan.?

No no no thats not what Im talking about. On the 4 cyl on the rear motor mount instead of pressing out the old mount you just slide in an insert in addition to the original. Its like they swelled up and will not fit. I got the other 3 installed no problem. I cant get them to just slide in.

And no I wont be at PIR instead Ill be on a cruise down around Baja, but the following month Ill be racing. The new engine will be in tomorrow!!!! Perhaps Ill cruise down to whitman after I get it in.

Ok, I was going to say...I haven't installed my rear inserts yet, but I thought they just got pressed right in without having to remove anything...

My brother decided to log on and type shit. But no worry he left his myspace up. I think were now even.

Alright this is what Im talking about, except for their front is our rear. Or did I press out the wrong one?!?!?! I don't think so cause their all different sizes.

Front Prothane Mount
Those look really simlar to what I have...the shape of the cavities in the mount are slightly different (I take it that link is for 1g or 2g though). The package I have says:

13-510 ECLIPSE MTR MNT (RR) INSRT 4CYL 00-04

i'm kidding. they should slip right in around the stock rubber, if they're not then something is obviously wrong. can you get a picture of whats going on? maybe they have a mislabel?

I had the damn things in a press. I didn't want to destroy the original rubber. But if that what Ive got to do, I will.
Just to make sure, do the bosses in the inserts match the cavities in the mount? If they aren't a mirror image, then you probably have the wrong ones...I'll take a picture of mine tomorrow if you need me to so you can compare them to the ones you have...:ugh2:

Those look identical to the ones I have. I see your problem though...you're using normal butter...you have to use "I can't believe it's not butter" Seriously though, it looks like you're putting them in the right way.

Does it seem like the inserts are too big or too small? If they seem too big, try freezing the inserts...if they seem too small, try freezing the mount...that may make enough of a difference to allow them to slip in...

Ill toss the mount into the freezer right now. Its like it has swelled up a lot. I noticed when I was pressing out the old mounts a lot of water was coming out of them. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
The rubber probably swelled up...kind of like what happens to seals when people use that stop-leak crap, which is due to the wrong type of fluid coming in contact with the seals though...I wonder if the butter might have actually had something to do with it...I don't know how the rubber in the mount would react to butter in that way or not though...

Definitely let me know how it turns out since I'll be doing mine after while...
