My 2000 GT

andrzejluko's 2000 GT, a work in progess

So I originally did not plan on owning an Eclipse, but I was driving a Ford Escort (piece of shit...) but anyway the tranny was going and I lost third gear. Long story short, tranny blew and I needed a car. My buddy sold me his 2000 GT for 1.5 and I fell in love...Well he took horrible care of it and now I'm trying to build it up...This is what I've done so far. I am open to new ideas because I want to do a lot with this car.

When I first bought the car

To top it off the car had two misfires (on top of being disgustingly dirty inside trust me you don't wanna see what I had to clean up), the CAI had a nice big hole in it. So I bought a new one, but the place I bought it from didn't tell me that what I was buying was a short ram air intake...for the 2.4L -__- but it works...I guess.

Tinted windows all but the front sadly in Jersey we can't have front tints here

Finally blacked out emblems...

Other than those exterior changes I have not done much to the interior or for performance...I will post updated pictures soon because that's all I have. Any advice for the future would be nice.

KYB AGX shocks
Invidia Exhaust
CAI (not sure what brand yet)
Idk what else I want to do yet...

Sadly most of my money has been spent on getting the car running properly since I bought it earlier this year.

I hate the wheels too...as for cleaning the engine bay I don't really know how...I've been attempting to find something on the forums about it...I don't want to damage anything. The car's radiator had a bad leak when I bought the car and he let it get everywhere. I want to get slotted and drilled rotors as for the new rotors. I'm actually going away for training in two weeks because I'm in the Marines and won't be back until like June -___- but by then I'll have money for working on the eclipse! xD

I would also tint your third brake light unless you didn't tint it just because your other lights are to dark and you're afraid of being rear ended.

I like what you've done so far, but I would definitely get some maintenance done to the car before you go to modding. Especially since you admitted your friend treated it like crap.

I actually did tint the third brake light just no picture lol. And I actually never spent any money on the car for modding so far....I already had spray paint and VHT nightshade, and I only bought things I had to. The reason I bought rims was because the stock front were so badly bent they couldn't hold a tire (I bought the cheapest rims I could find locally so I could get the car running, these rims I found at Pepboys for $70 a piece and replacement stock rims were $90). The intake as well...I went on andysautosport.com and just looked up a cheap intake...As far as maintenance goes...other than an alignment I've fixed everything in the car. Which is why I've been looking into mods. I've had the car since I think March? Maybe February. Since then I spent more money maintaining the car and getting it up to par than I did to buy it.

Get a led 3rd brake light... I tinted my stock one and it barely lite up. But I got a new one and it shines bright... Also TYC are an option. I like the wheels but they do look small :ninja2::ninja2::ninja2:

TYC? I've never heard of that before.

And I was planning on getting 18" or 19" soon. I've been looking into different rims and tires but right now I just don't have the money. And you think LED tails would make a difference too?

Well one week left until i leave for basic for the USMC. So no mods until then, but thank you guys who gave me advice. I'll update on things when I return. :wavey:

Found out today that my girlfriend and friends plan on doing stuff with my car while i'm gone....so we'll see what happens...She's gonna be taking over my forum account while i'm gone so I'm sure she'll update everything.
