Thanks unfortunately I’m not the first to do such things, people in Australia and Florida have been doing things with the 6G7 platform for sometime. I’m happy to make pushes in this time of not a lot of people posting unless it’s help on diagnosing a problem on the forums. Sometimes I wish I had Facebook to post more but I’m good with out any social media.
This is true but you must remember, the Florida guys are most likely the PR guys as they're a whole new breed of builders and usually don't share anything with the rest of us anyways and the australians are across the pond so they damn sure aren't sharing any secrets with us much if at all. So, don't feel bad because any progress we can actually track is good progress in my book!

This is the problem…. Just because these are a new breed of builders it’s ok to just be dicks when asking for help. And technically haltech is a Australian brand company they have been more than willing to help with the process, I’ve actually never know any Australian to keep one in the dark when asked for help. People just with hold info because they think they have something special that is worth money. Plus haltech has offices in the US that you can contact. I could be one of those guys and with hold info because I’m one of the “few” that had done this with the platform which I would never do but. To each they own it dosent justify being a dick. I’ve contacted several people that are just plane rude and shot me down becuase of what I wanted to do or reasonings for why I didn’t take it a different route example ecu flash is all you need which I don’t believe in one bit but again that’s just me and what I see my car as. This is the reasons why this forum has died so much. Lots of toxic people. And including me I’ve left and only lurked for the past x number of years.

you definitely nailed it with that statement. Never understood the big secret with these cars cause I would definitely share anything that I know. Their are still some guys though that I can depend on for information or just advice

Don’t get me wrong there are still some decent dependable people out there for sure. Don’t think I’ll get my car ready for proving grounds this coming weekend but it’ll give me time to get things ready for next year.

Well here we are since yesterday 9-8-22 I got the car on the dyno and tuned. Made 188whp and 195wtq this is about the same I made way back in 2006 that was the last time I was on a dyno.

come to today I’m back at BIR for proving grounds 2 getting ready to race some HPDE, the tuner “tuned by Shawn” has been nothing but amazing getting me back on track for my last event of the year. We had to do some street runs to get some low throttle and first initial wot hits sorted out but it’s been coming along real well.

got to weight the car also sitting at 3100 with me in it and 2960 with out me with a full tank of gas, hoping I get some good runs in this weekend and will post up some videos when I get a chance.

I just weighed myself, and I am 140lbs also standing at 5.4... Just wondering if I can assume my car would be the same weight ???
I also like that hood... If it was an add-on, I would do the two rectangles without the center and paint them the same colour as my car.

Yeah I’m a small guy I’m 5’7 and 140 after eating.

The hood is modded it has trackspec hood vents
Geez...I can remember when I weighed 140. I guess the wife feeds me too good. I'm just a little grey headed ol' man of 76 . If I really really try the lowest I have been able to get down to is 227lbs. I have to really watch it in the winter of I'll be hitting 240 by spring. ...J.D.

Can you remember which kit you used for the hood vents... There are so many to choose from.?
Center vent is the T1 universal

an the two upper side vents are the small angular universe I believe I would have to go measure it to make certain.

Trust me I definitely agree brotha, I'm not disagreeing at all. My point with that last post was that those guys never share anything and I think it's very stupid they do that because they make it seem like it's some giant secret to make more power when if they actually shared how to do it, we'd benefit SO much because the stuff they're doing would be able to help plenty more of us to get FAR further with our platforms since most of the Honda guys I see for example are in it to share all they got with each other because of the fact that our platforms in the Mitsubishi community could be so much further improved upon and faster in the game than they are if they just shared what they knew. But that's why we're at where we are at. It sucks they're being D-bags about it because it is literally no point in that and all it does is hold us back. So don't think I'm in any way disagreeing! I totally understand where you're coming from and you hit it on the head man.

So update for the weekend up at Brainerd International Raceway for Proving Grounds 2. I drove the car up to BIR which is a 2 an a half hour drive from where I live. The car drove fine getting up there some slight throttle issues that I needed to work out with the tuner, the guy that tuned my car was also at the event doing some remote tunes and helping me out also. That Friday the tuner and I went driving around To fix the throttle response issues literally only took him 30mins and we were pretty dialed in, rev matching, heal toe all felt great. Friday was pretty chill watched our buddy do some autocross, watched some drifting drank some beers to get ready for Saturday.

Saturday morning we do drivers meeting which took forever, I’m driving in the advanced group which is the first session up well we only got 2 laps in and a RX8 spins and hits a wall. They emphasized on the first sessions out for all the groups is if you got 4 off you will be cut for the next session, well this car was done for the event. Our second session got cut short because a Honda S2000 also went off track in a different run group causing a 45 min delay. To makes things short we got screwed for 3 sessions out of our 6 on Saturday and I ran 3 out of the 4 on Sunday because I had to run to the store to get some heat shield wrap for some wires.

Overall The car felt amazing I didn’t have any issues with the drivability with the car the whole weekend, even driving it back home. It seems I have fixed/eliminated the random miss fire I would get while on track. Once I got everything dialed in with the transient throttle with the tuner it was full game on. It literally drives like it’s on the stock ecu. Best time for the weekend was a low 1:53 not super fast but not super slow either.
The wether was also perfect mid to high 70s clear sky’s it was a great weekend overall I did have a spin out of turn 2 everyone there dosent lift going into turn 2 it’s about 118 -123mph turn that needs a lot of confidence and the right turn in well let’s just say I have the confidence but my turn in was bad and I scrubbed all the way till there was no more track left.

Here’s the video of one of the sessions.

and here’s the off track at 117mph on turn two scary but it wasn’t to bad.

not a bad starting weight especially with interior and stereo still in there. I got mine down to 2700 without me in it and I know I can get at least another 100lbs or so out of it and that's with a full cage

I assume the hood vents are not meant for heavy rain, correct???
I’ve driven in heavy rain as long as all your electrical is sealed and water proof you really shouldn’t have a problem driving in rain, and your intake would have to be submerged in order to get hydro locked, if it’s raining that bad you should prob pull over for a min and chill anyway.

Woah car looks and sounds great, not sure how I missed this build! How much difference does that heat tape make on the intake temps?
Thanks, I’ll have some more mods coming in this winter just starting to gather parts as we speak.

I actually haven’t checked my log of my IATs becuase it’s always had the heat tape on it. I’m sure it helps with a few degrees but typically nothing crazy but now that you say something I should check out my logs that were done when i was at the track something I haven’t looked at yet.

Some updates on the off season progress stuff. Took apart all of the rear suspension components and replaced with aftermarket parts here’s the list of what I have installed.

Swift 14k springs with re-valved shocks
Trailing arms - Godspeed spherical bushing arms
Lower control arms - Volk Metal Craft spherical bushings with sway bar links (this is made for a 2G)
Toe Arms - Megan racing spherical bushing arm
Upper control arms and rear knuckles have all poly bushings.
Rear moog camber plates for the upper control arms
New hardware
Painted the knuckles and upper control arms

The hodge podge of different parts kinda annoy me depending on how this set up works might get new trailing arms and toe arms from VMC. But for now on the next thing to do is work on the front suspension with 10k swift springs, new control arms and poly bushings and camber bolts need to be installed. After that’s all done get the car corner balanced and aligned.

here’s some pictures of my rusty POS but feels nice to have new things on the car. Side bar also bought myself a 2020 LT Silverado TrailBoss for towing the race car now.
