I got a dell inspiron 600m laptop and just about a week or two ago i started getting pop ups. I looked and in the left hand side it said internet speed controller. Somehow it got on my computer. I have downloaded ad-aware and i ran that and it didnt help anything. I also downloaded AVG anti-spyware and ran that and it found a bunch of infected files but still is not getting rid of the pop ups. Does anyone know how to get rid of these? It's getting very annoying :twitch:

Um... Yeah!?

This may be a stupid suggestion, but do you have a pop-up blocker installed?

Another suggestion that I have is to go to PC Pitstop: Free PC Diagnostics, computer help and Tuneups and run your your computer through some of their diagnostic tools. I have used this site for years, and it has always helped me pinpoint issues with my computers and others that I have worked on.

i've tried all these programs, antivir, AVG, Ad-aware and every other program i can think of and it still did not get rid of the pop-ups so i just restored my computer from scratch. It's working great now :) but thanks for the help

Um... Yeah!?

You have to remember that it's not just spyware that causes pop ups. Many web sites also use them for ads, and IE doesn't block them.

IE blocks about 99% of them for me.
