this probably sounds really retarded but whatev... I just bought a 2000 eclipse GT 5 spd from a used dealer the other day. It runs great and everything works well. I don't know much about mitsubishi's because ive always owned hondas and acuras. My question is, are they pretty reliable? Mine has 135,000 on it. Its probably quite high for an eclipse but i just need some imput on these cars and how well known they are and or if I was an idiot for buying one haha thanks:confused:

Never had any problems with mine.. other than what was "self inflicted". I love my car. :)

I just rolled over 116K.
Yes, quite reliable :) The engines and drivetrains in these cars last a very long time as long as they have been taken care of.

If you do have a premature engine or transmission failure with your Eclipse, junkyard parts are relatively cheap and readily accessible.

I've had my Eclipse for almost 7 years now, and I would like to keep her until the wheels fall off.

I know i will.:)

124xxx and runs like a champ.
Welcome to the club!

I also have a 00' GT 5 spd but only with 22K on it, no complaints!
I have a Buddy that has a 01 3g spyder Gt and he has like 220K and its still rolling and making no noises at all. Only things he did was normal wear.. Brakes. tires... Tune-up.... clutch. He didnt replace the clutch till like 140K i think he said. They are very Solid cars thats why i bought mine. Just take care of it.
i have a 4cyl RS but in my original window sticker it says:

Country of origin:
Engine: JAPAN
Transmission: JAPAN

thats all that matters brother! Japanese drivetrain FTMFW!
(i hope the 6cyl stuff is from Japan as well otherwise im making myself look like a dumbass)

:agreed: I am about 135k now and no motor/transmission problems to date. I will keep it until there is nothing left.
well this is a great place for info on your new ride! sit back read all the "sticky" topics in the forums to get most of the information you'll need and remember the search key is your friend! :) See you around the mall!
I work there so I'm around the mall alot, nice to know there's some other people from around here on here though, I've been looking for people in the Danbury area.
Welcome and check out Mitsuoama.com as well its another 3G site thats great.
I bought a Dodge Stealth (similar Mitsu 3.0L V6) in 01 with almost 130k miles, lasted 5 years to 180k miles with no motor/tranny problems! Just take care of it and make sure to keep up on regular maintenance and it will be a good car.
Welcome :wavey: 03 GTS here with 76k miles on it. Only problem I ever had was with the clutch. But that was self inflicted. :nono:
