Hello,

So I recently bought a PLZ MP-800 radio for my Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 2004. I hooked it up with the Metra 70-7001 and realized I had an amp, so I got the Metra 70-7003 and hooked up the amp with that amp harness. So, it’s now hooked up with the 7001 harness, 7003 amp harness, RCA splitter (radio only has 2 channel) and ground loop isolator.
Ever since I hooked up the amp to the radio I’ve been getting static, chirping and whining coming from my speakers.
Things I’ve tried:
  • Grounding radio to the seats floor bolt
  • Grounding radio to chassis inside dash
  • Grounding radio to cigarette lighter ground
  • Adding ground loop isolator
  • Moving RCA cables away from radio cables
Grounding the radio makes the sounds quieter and adding the ground loop isolator makes it even quieter but it’s still quite loud.
Removing the amp RCA’s and amp control wire from the radio removes all sounds.
You guys have any ideas what it could be, or is this radio just garbage?

Looking at the 70-7001 harness, there are more wires than the 70-7003 ? If you are using the speaker wires in combination with the RCA`s you may be getting feed back. I looked up the radio you are using and found this manual. If you follow the directions, you should have no problem. Use the 70-7003 harness and din amp adaptor, split the channels from the PLZ MP-800 to the RCA`s of the Metra harness, and you should be good. There should be no need for the Ground loop isolator. Hope this helps ..

Not using the speaker wires in the HU, they are all still hooked up to the stock amp.
And yep I've followed that manual to a T. As well as hooked up the amp with those harnesses.
Interference is always there.

Nope, I'm using two.
Try testing the HU without the amp connected and having the front speakers temporarily wired directly to the HU, assuming the HU has enough power for your liking. If you run power only to the HU, and temporary wiring to two speakers, this will isolate the problem to the HU if it still makes noise. Also, try using the radio with key turned to ACC, without the car running. This will tell you if any other electrical parts (spark plugs, etc) are possibly causing the noise.

Thanks @Sisyphus58 and @Widgmaster for your help so far. I just tried a second aftermarket head unit and it's much, much more clearer than the MP-800 headunit.
Both the radios work fine without any interference when directly connected to a speaker.
This second head unit doesn't have all the chirping and whining, though it does have a small bit of static/interference.
