newb with some questions

Hey everyone, I have a 3g eclipse gs. I am working on installing a CAI, headers, and exhaust. Later I was looking at putting a turbo kit in, and I was wondering how much psi my stock internals can handle?

Also if anyone knows of another road I should take please feel free to let me know.

Thanks in advance

Better do some reading. Use the search button up top and you will find more than enough information about what you are asking.
Right, but my research has shown me that answers are open to interpretation without knowing all of the facts. Going through the forums I have seen anything from 5psi up to 15psi on stock internals, which is great and all if they're correct... however, this can be anything from people playing it safe to stroking their ego to much. I was hoping to get an answer from someone who has actually done this setup with little engine work instead of someone making a suggestions based off an idea they thought might work. I'm not trying to blow my engine up after a couple months.

just go to the forced induction page for 4cyl's and read...pm people and read more...then read a lot more! turboing your car isnt as easy as it sounds and dont expect to get it done from a thousand or so bucks...especially if you're not good with the wrench :)

welcome!
Welcome & good luck on your project!
Welcome dude!!! your gonna get pretty much the same answers from every one.....SEARCH.....thats the only answers i got for a very long time, so now i dont even ask anymore until ive searched first then asked questions based on my searches. Im doing the same thing as you right now. I have an '04 stratus with the 4G64 motor, just like yours. I have a short ram intake, exhaust, and suspension done right now. i have researched the same things as you are and ive pretty much decided that im going to buy a cheap junked motor and rebuild it with new internals and slap a turbo on it and pull my old motor and throw the new one in. I am going to start slow and work my way up, starting with minimal boost and then go up from there just to be safe. What you want to do will not be cheap but if its what you really want to do it will be worth it in the end. I dont know your skill level with mechanics but mine is very limited with these cars. I have worked on older, carbureted engines so i basically know how an engine works. I did alot of reading on these motors and turboing them, reading will help. Well anyway, now that i have rambled on .......make the best decisions for yourself. :hspin:

Welcome. I hope your successful.
Welcome, I will say the same as everyone else "search" however it also depends on the set up. I can tell you that I run 11psi on stock internals from a supercharger and have not had any problems in the last 2 years it has been installed. Hope that helps.
:wavey: Welcome to C3G!! Good luck on the clipse, and Enjoy the site!
... good lord its been a while since I visited this page. After the second post I pretty much just hung out in the background of this forum biding my time and doing my research. Didn't even occur to me to check back in here.

Thanks to all for the responses

As it stands I am going to be doing an EvoIII based turbo with the stock internals at about 8psi (because my engine is at 111000 miles now and I don't wanna stress her to hard). Purchasing of the parts are going to be starting at around mid to late September.

Just get ready to spend money and not go cheap with ebay bullshit parts. If you don't want to spend much, then stay N/A, and get a small nitrous kit and call it a day.
