Changed plugs, gasket, coils, egv and still it bogs down. Checked to see if there was a vacuum leak and I honestly thought the coils that came today would solve it.
I just want my little get up and go car back. Any ideas? I'm not mechanic but I know the basics.

4 and check engine light is on. AutoZone guy said clean EGR valve and change plugs. Actually bought a new egr valve and changed plugs. Just changed out both coil packs. It's missing and when I put my foot on the accelerator it just wants to die.

I would suggest you buy your own code reader and learn to use it. In my opinion, Auto Zone people are a bunch of "twits" that just want to sell you parts. If they were real mechanics, they would not be working at Auto Zone. In my experience, quite often what presents itself as a EGR problem is quite often an issue with the controls that operate the EGR, and not the EGR valve itself. These are not simple systems to diagnose. ...J.D.

Try unplugging your MAF and see how the car acts, just as a test.

I would pull the codes first, before you change anything. In your experimenting around, you may inadvertently cause another error code. You really cannot do much diagnostics on these cars without the code reader though. Read the codes and get back to us. ...J.D.

The only thing I have now is a sucking noise when I push down the gas so obviously I have a leak. Now I have to figure out where it's coming from.

Do you possibly have an air leak between the air cleaner and the throttle body ? ...J.D.

update. So far I changed coil packs, wires, spark plugs, egr valve, fuel pressure regulator. Tonight I added some injector cleaner in the gas tank (seafoam)
Don't know where id go to get a pressure check. Oh and I cleaned MAF sensor. Put airflow and filter back together. Cleaned battery posts and tightened. I am bashing my head against the steering wheel which is annoying because my horn sounds like a clown car.
As of a young fella at O'Reileys... Misfire, gas circuit low, air temp sensor, air flow circuit lean, map sensor low, system lean. This was before the install of the fuel pressure regulator. So i guess I should see what it says on their machine tomorrow. Thanks guys for all your input. I'm an old guy but love this little car as it was the first car i sold in the US for mitsubishi in 2003 from England. So to have this group and forum is awesome. Always loved the 3g.

Cleaning the MAF is NOT recommended on these cars bc the sensor is too sensitive.
As already mentioned, try disconnecting the MAF connector and note any changes in how the car runs.
Regardless, you need to find the source of the "sucking" sound leak. Manually move the throttle cable to increase the rpms while moving your head around between the throttle body and air cleaner to try to pinpoint the source.
Remove the air intake and inspect for cracks or holes, then reinstall making sure to tighten the clamps enough.
Replace the MAF if unsure of how old it is.
Try cleaning or replacing your upstream O2 sensor.
