possible precat problem?

I been having problems out of my v6 for about the last month. Car has been running bad. Inconsistent idling and while driving feels like it throttle surges and loses power. I first threw a p0135 code and replaced the o2 sensor. Then I got p0300 code and gave a full tune up. But here recently it throws a p0421 code about once a week. Could these be signs of the precat stopping up or going out?

Also I have noticed my exhaust tone to be raspier and deeper tone!

any help is appreciated!!

update: just went to crank car and revved couple times and got p0305 and p0421 after some sputtering

I would do a visual inspection of the exhaust gaskets and check for vac leaks while in the engine bay. I have had rasp show up several times after different gaskets failed.

What did you replace during the tune up? Did it include the distrib cap and rotor? A bad one of either of those and you'll get misifires.
My tune up included cap, rotor, wires, plenum gasket and plugs all bought at dealership. I have inspected exhaust and vacuum hoses that i know of. Is there a way to check precat without removal? Would a stopped up precat cause back pressure and create cylinder misfires. All my issues are relating to the bank 1. I cleared my codes yesterday and today i got p0303.

Not to my knowledge :dunno:

I'm not a mechanic but I don't see that happening. I would think that anything that got "stopped up" in the exhaust system (that close to the block) would simply burn up and be expelled as a gas :dunno:

I dont recall what P0303 is. If it is misfire related then I would reseat the spark plug wires at the distrib to ensure good connections. If that didn't help then I would check ALL spark plug tubes for oil. If present then remove the valve covers and replace the spark plug t4ube seals.
