2 springs were broken like that on the gf's 'new to her' escort she got a while back. its those vinyl sleeves man! they hold the salty water against the steel and any imperfection in the metal or paint is really accelerated.

What kind of warranty does Eibach offer? I hope my three year old pro kits don't crap out. Then again it's never seen a real winter.

Metal rusts if you soak it in salt water no matter what metal it is. I wouldnt give up on the springs but I would just take more precaution to prevent this in the future. I strip the springs to the bare metal then coat them with some rust resistant primer. Then Id top it off with a rubberized coating.

Wow that is crazy. I have only seen one other set of Eibachs fail and I believe those were because the kid put them on upside down. Hope you are ok and I hope the car is ok also. Good luck getting new springs. :yesway:

do not chance it! put the stock spring back in there or both stockers back on the front. if you dont have the stocks then i dont know bud, but do not drive it like that! if you had to suddenly swerve or stop that strut would compress completely and pop....not to mention that one corner of the car would dive horrendously and could cause you to really loose control of it!

Yea but i drove to Buffalo and when Chris was on the way the spring failed so thus for I couldn't drive it back to Cleveland. We couldn't wait untill the eibach would consider getting him a new spring or not. We both decided he is gonna change the spring to stockers and I might lower it sometimes during the summer if Eibach decided to get him a new one

There is nothing wrong with Eibach Springs. These are isolated incidents. Eibach makes some of the higher quality springs available. Enough wear from salt and the elements will do that to any spring over an extended period of time.
:agreed: Unless the plastic coating is damaged and salt and water get into the metal causing the corrosion.
