Random Misfire

I have a 2000 Eclipse V6 with 98k. I recently had a problem with the car not starting, I replaced the battery, had the starter checked, everything checked out ok.

This problem was on and off for a few days. Sometimes it would start no problem, others it would just click, but not turn over. I had this problem after work one day, wouldn't start for about an hour or so, and then i tried it one more time and suddenly it worked. Got home, noticed it was throwing a code. It was for the crankshaft position sensor.

I had the sensor replaced and now it's throwing a code for random misfire and running sluggish. However, no problems with it starting. (note: when the crankshaft position sensor was replaced the timing belt was removed as well)

is this just basic plugs and wires? anyone else had a similar problem after replacing the crankshaft position sensor?

Im having the same problem. Pull the plugs and wires in the front and check them. If they are alright then it's most likely the cap and rotor.
Has there been a recent tune-up done? (in the past 6 months or so) If not, do the whole she-bang. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor. Start there and see where you're at.
Check your grounding and positive cables on your battery for corrosion....
tune-up done last year about this time. new plugs, wires. "the whole she-bang"
battery is brand new die hard plat. no corrosion on cables.
If everything involves with a tune up was replaced and you are almost @ 100K miles then personally I would check for leaking spark plug tube seals. Remove all plugs and look for oil on them (or inside the spark plug tube). If they are clean then they dont need to be replaced. If you find any oil then remove the valve covers and replace those 6 seals ($2/ea @ dealer). I had bad seals cause bogging and misfires 3 different times :( Atleast it is a cheap fix!

Normally I would say start with:
plugs
wires (unplug and reseat - if no help then just replace them)
distrib rotor
distrib cap

...but it sounds like all that has already been done.
plugs and wires were done last year, but I just spent my beautiful Saturday replacing plugs, wires, seals, cap, rotor, and flushing the radiator. took her out for a test and now she is making a lovely popping sound in the exhaust when i let off the gas.

still running sluggish, but not throwing any codes. What the hell is going on with my car!?

so it's just backfiring now? Seems like it's running rich, bad o2 sensor?
