Hey guys,
My daughters ride ('03 Eclipse GT 3.0) is in the body shop getting her body kit replaces, new paint, and some rust repaired in the trunk. While they have it apart I'd like to get them to replace the hatch weather strip. We were getting a lot of dust from the gravel roads in the trunk, and the seal is in rough shape. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what I need? I tried to order one NOS, but my go-to didn't have it and couldn't get it. I don't have the old one on hand so I'm struggling trying to find an aftermarket (universal) replacement. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Looks liie it's discontinued from the OEM (I'm guessing you already knew).

Here is an ebay listing for one.

https://www.ebay.com/p/Genuine-Mitsubishi-Eclipse-Lift-Gate-Weatherstrip-MR271732/1628631384

Also another dealer that seems to have one.

Another one.

I don't know anything about any of these websites so buyer beware.

Thanks! The only one there that's actually available is the Ebay one. That's a tough pill to swallow, but I may need go that route. I actually tried to order from mitsubishipartsonsale.com and they refunded me because it's no longer available. If I can't figure out a generic style that'll be it.

Maybe you can go to a napa or other auto parts store that has bulk weather stripping and match some up. Not sure if that's a thing, but it's worth a shot.

Dust is possibly coming in from the trunk vent, it's a flappy thingy off in one corner to vent the cabin when a door closes so that whump of air doesn't damage your ears or the glass. I'd check that the rubber flaps aren't twisted, missing, mouse chewed, etc.
