Hello. I purchased my 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse 2 summers ago and it had various modifications done to it. It had a strut system with coilovers and those went bad so last fall I began to put in the new parts. As of right now, my car has 2 OEM struts in the the rear and in front are the coilover ones. I purchased a set of Eibach pro-kit springs and it looks like the rear ones will fit, but the front springs do not look like they will fit on the struts there now.

So I am looking at KYB AGX front struts but I am wondering what type of mounts or other parts I may be needing for both the front and back. As of now, no springs on my car whatsoever. Also, have none of the stock parts and that means no mounts, no nothing at all.

I need a bit of help here as I am very new to car repairs and modifications.

It looked like the first picture. As I said, the rear ones are completely removed and the front ones only have the coilover shocks remaining. I will get some pictures up hopefully tomorrow or Friday. I will have to jack up my car and get the tires off.

Okay, so I took the stuff off and looked at the struts I have now, definitely will not work with my new springs. I ordered some new KYB struts and they should be here soon.

Is there anything else I need to order with new struts? What else is required to have them work properly?

Still think pictures would help to see what you have.

Alternately you can look up one of the online Mitsubishi parts sites, they'll have diagrams of the suspension parts that you can use to order from. You can just compare those to what you have and see if anything is missing.

The one on the right is stock. Strut, spring, top platform, dust boot, bump stop all clearly visible. I haven't had my 3G in long enough I don't remember the rest, there may be a few washers and other pieces in there too.

Unless someone else has done it recently enough to have it fresh in their memory, have a look at a parts diagram...

I put stock springs and struts in two weeks ago.

refer to this: http://tearstone.com/eclipsefsm/33A.PDF

page 33A-10

there are rubber pads at the top and bottom of the spring, bumper and cover that fit over the strut rod, a spring retainer at the top, bearing and tower mount on top of that, washer nut and dust cap.

I was able to get the bearing/tower mount at O'Riley's and the springs and struts at partsgeek, but RockAuto should have most everything too.

If you are doing the assembly yourself, you will need some hella-good spring compression tools and patience.
