Securing Audio equipment to seat backs

Hey all,
I have seen quite a few installs in which folks have installed their amps to the back of their seats in stuff like an Eclipse GTS. Just wondering what you secure to inside the seat and what you use in the ways of screws?

Do you take the seats apart or just feel for the supports in them?

Let me know, if anyone has pictures that helps too.

any audio install questions i had i would direct to highjacker, his car speaks for itself in that department....
I just used self tapping screws(not to long if you have people that ride in the back seat) and screwed them into the metal backing on the seats. Its held for a few years now.

perfect. yea i know ive looked at hijackers car a lot...not ready to do a fiberglass mold in my entire trunk quite yet :)

i figured half inch self tapping screws should do it. I just have a single amp and a distro box for the time being....

Do you mean a distribution block? Why would you have one of those with just one amp?
i have a 1/0 run to the trunk because i plan on putting in a 4 channel amp, just dont have enough money to do it all at once, however to convert the 1/0 down to 4/8ga for the actual amp i decided to just get a distribution block (i liked the voltage/amperage meters on it too) and ill just have to add a second output line from the blocks (power/ground) into my 4 channel amp and im done

i went as far as to run a 4 channel stereo rca also.....

so im pretty much plug and play for a second amp ....minus speakers and speaker wire
Just use self-taps and screw into the back of the seat.
once i found the right spot worked like a charm!

+rep :)
I screwed a MDF board onto the back seat with self-tapping screws, and mounted 2 amps and a cap/distribution block on it. The back seat is just about the safest place on which you can mount things. The only thing you need to worry about clearing are the back seat latches.
yeah, self tapping screws is what we use at work, especially when we mount them to the back of the seats in hatchbacks

I was going to screw them into my seat as well but I had alot of leftover wood from building my box and this was the outcome....
