i recently purchased a new Injen CAI

i had it installed

took the negative battery off and waited 30 min then connected it and drove it.. it died everytime i stopt or i didnt press the gas. then after awhile it fixed itself but acted funny at low RPM'S. the engine light came on. and it was riding rough and making a hissing sound so i unplugged the battery again and waited 30 min and now the car starts but if u dont press the gas it dies. it hasnt been drivable for 2 days and i need my car
it can drive once u get it out the driveway as long as ur foot is on the gas, but if u dont pressthe gas it dies.. it still has the engine light on and hissing.
im so confused :(
i dunno what to do help

Mine did that after instal.. I just held the gas at idle for the rest of the day and then back to normal. For somereason my ECU never restarted so it had to re-learn even tho I did the same thing. So could just be a similar issue.. but could still be some wrong. Did you happen to snip anything? maybe vacum?
i dont think so.

so i have to sit in my car and rev it in neutral? all day?

So you didn't let the ECU relearn idle after starting it? Disconnect the battery again. Wait 20 minutes. Reconnect battery. Start car. Do not touch gas pedal for 15mins unless you MUST in order to keep the engine running.

Post which SES codes are present AFTER you do the above. The SES probably wont even come back on. A slight hiss is normal when using a cone filter. That is the trade off for more performance. If the car still dies after relearning idle then verify that your vac lines are not leaking. I know there is a vac line running to the intake's nipple so verify that is on snug and it not leaking. Vac leaks cause the engine to stall.
is it ok to be reseting it everday?

is my battery goign to die

yeah i have to keep my foot on the gas or it dies

we check codes it was like po030
po017

dunno wut they mean

Take my advice and go reset the ECU/battery. No power is used while it is disconnected and the battery recharges while idling for 15mins. Neither of those codes make any sense. Codes start with a "P" and then have ATLEAST 4 numbers after the P. Scan the codes again if they show up AFTER you have done my original advice. NOTHING bad is going to happen from doing what I suggest. Worse thing is you will have to reset (re-input) your stereo settings.
:agreed: I definitly agree w. NC you have nothing to worry about man. The reset is pretty much what you should do as your 1st check. Than i would move to checking for leaks like previously stated. Do you have an auto? If the ECU didn't relearn itself it prob. is bumping in between gears also if it's an AUTO.
i dont think so.

Lol, no I meant evey time I stoped but I have an 5spd so I just did it at stops. Prolly was about 15mins total of idling before it turned normal...and didn't have NC's advise lol.
I didnt even disconnect my battery when i put on my cai.
Didnt even throw a code nor any problems.

But yea just reset it and let it idle 15mins or so like NC[Spyder]GT said.
it dies when it idles tho.
took the negative off the battery for 30 min.
then cranked it.
it wouldnt idle. it would start and rev to 3 RPM's then die.
i kept it alive with gas for 20 min and it still would die if i let off the gas.
after about 5 minutes with the battery back on the SES light came on.

now everytime i crank it.. just rev's to 3 and dies.
:( i need my carrr

i think ive tried all the advice
ive restarted the ECU almost 5 times now
its an automatic 2003 Eclipse GTS
could a leak cause this?
you could just sell it to me and go back to stock :)
i was talking about the intake not the car pal lol
If reset didn't work and you held gas to it, to much gas but still and then dies. At this point check for vacum leak. Double check that your wiring for the MAF sensor is pushed all the way in or else it'll die like that.
Also make sure you installed the MAF sensor in the right direction
even if the maf is in backwards or the harness is not connected tot he maf the car should still idle. Why? Because I disconnected mine and started the car and it idles.

Possible you damaged the maf's little wires that run through it?
Some cars can some can't for some reson... If I remove my maf, my car bogs and then dies, as wellas most of my cars. Only my prob could go w/o the MAF installed but thats because it was going bad and I drove with it for 6months so it learned to go w/o.
Shouldn't the car be in closed loop which does not need the maf to idle though? I guess I am just lucky or something.
