I just built a new PC and its hooked up through LAN. The internet is working but some websites will not connect. My notebook on WiFi connects just fine to these websites so I know they arent down. What could it be?

DNS resolves ok?
Do you have your hosts file set to something? C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts I just assume windows. If OS X or Unix then check /etc/hosts

Site works for me.
Open a command prompt - Go to Start -> Run -> type CMD and hit enter
In the new window type "nslookup www.golfmkv.com" without the quotes. Does it return an IP address to you? Eg.

C:\Documents and Settings\Fuckoff>nslookup Golfmkc.com - Golf tee times Resources and Information. This website is for sale!
Server: DNSSERVER
Address: DNSSERVER IP

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: Golfmkc.com - Golf tee times Resources and Information. This website is for sale!
Address: 199.85.4.63

Then start notepad
File -> Open -> Type c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

The contents should only be a like so -
# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
127.0.0.1 localhost

Anything else in there, put a # in front of it and save. Now try hitting the site again.

Ah Thanks for the help but I figured it out. I have Peerguardian running and for some reason its not allowing some sites. Does anyone know how to configure peerguardian to allow these sites?
