try to find a place that sells the blue nipples. im sure somewhere does
I've tried looking for the blue nipples and I can't find them anywhere. I found a couple places that had LED lens covers, but they all had to clip into the circuit board. Maybe they can be modified to work, but I think the lights from the radio are naturally yellow because I backed all the buttons with transparent blue plastic and covered all the lights (to the best of my ability) with the same stuff and all the buttons came out a really dim teal and the volume knob was teal on the bottom and yellow/green on the top. I don't think there's a whole lot that can be done to convert the radio color to something that is so opposite on the color wheel besides replacing the bulbs (requiring what appears to be some REALLY difficult soldering)try to find a place that sells the blue nipples. im sure somewhere does
i hear ya man. i sharpied all of mine and like you i can barely see what buttons im pushing at night. i've looked for two years off an on without success so hopefully somebody out there knows a trick.I've been trying to avoid unsoldering the led's on the stock radio to get the same or close to same color from the blue led's I've put in. The blue sharpie only made it very dim, has anyone had any luck with this besides doing red?
Bingo. Same problem I ran into. I followed the how to and cut out blue vinyl and put it behind the buttons. It apears the lights are some kind of natural yellow light. I ran into a similar problem when I painted the dash bulbs. The color isnt too far off but its so dim..... idk guys It looks like it may have to be unsoldered...I've tried looking for the blue nipples and I can't find them anywhere. I'm sure the Vinyl method works, but it does not with the blue color. Even though the the face plate has leds they are a yellowish light and not white. If the leds were white this would be sweet. I personally think the how to should make a reference to this. In the second link of the how to the person shows different colors he claims to have put in but after doing it myself I'm sure its Photoshop.the vinyl works really well if you cant find the nipples, but read somewhere on here that you can just use sharpie of some sorta permanent marker to cover the bulb with your choice of color
I'll post a picture later of what it looks like with the marker.the vinyl works really well if you cant find the nipples, but read somewhere on here that you can just use sharpie of some sorta permanent marker to cover the bulb with your choice of color
Those leds on the pcb are soldered... If I get some extra cash this payday I might pick up a desoldering iron and 4 disc changer from the for sale section and give it a try.ive heard of some people putting on some blue covers on the back of the actuall button panel, and some ultrabright lights before it, but i dont know, maybe order some blue led's for the radio area online?
