Timing belt tensioner question

Hey all!

I am purchasing parts for my tbelt change and (per many posts on here) it's a good idea to change the hydraulic tensioner.

i have decided to purchase parts from prostreetonline.com and found something that i *think* is the hydraulic tensioner... can you please evaluate and let me know if it is?

thanks!!

ps - it calls it the "tbelt tension adjuster"

I'd recommend to buy OEM Mitsubishi parts for the timing belt service (belts, pulleys, tensioner) if you plan to keep the car.

:agreed: I agree with this 100%, I just had mine changed at 60K and just recient at 120K. I wouldn't only buy OEM when it comes to service parts of this kind.
when i think of a tensioner i remember the one from my old thunderbird that was keeping the tension on the serpentine belt... is the timing belt tensioner the same basic look or do they mean the pulley?

i just dont want to buy the wrong things. i've seen a timing belt kit w/ the belt and 2 pulleys, is that all i need for the belt change?

are the pulleys metal or plastic? when an online vendor sells the kit w/ mitsu partnumbers is it safe to call it OEM?

I believe all the pulleys are metal. I did not notice any plastic ones while messing with my serpentine pulleys for the SDS install. I have not seen the timing belt side pulleys though.
The tensioner is metal. :agreed:
All pulleys are metal. The tensioner is not a pulley. It's a metal piece shaped roughly like a penis. I say this because part of it is shaft and it gets wider where the 2 bolts go. It has a metal pin that is hydraulically operated and pushes outwards once the pin is removed.
