I wonder what a Mitsubishi dealer (or any Japanese dealership) would say about a Dodge, Jeep, or GMC ? Just a dealer being a dealer. Tell your dad to ask the sales person if they have ever owned a Mitsubishi before. Probably not.First off im not sure if this is the right place or not.
im trying to get my dad to approve me buying a 3g eclipse. The used car salesman at the dealership(Dodge, Jeep, and GMC) where he works says they are pieces of junk and also to turn and run from any that are a manual because they are unreaible.
Maybe he's thinking about the 2g GS-T/GSX crankwalk problem. Will not be a problem w/3g'sThe one mech. he talked to said they were pretty good cars (except for the clutchs and trannys).
Why aren't you a Honda fan? Honestly you shouldn't be afraid of owning one because 75% of them on the streets are riced out. The other 25% done right, can be pretty awesome. I have a bunch of friends w/honda's and no one ever says anything disgraceful about them. Really, you should keep an open mind about those Honda's. IMO if you want something more comparable to an Eclipse go w/the Prelude. You won't be disapointed, my friend drives a 97 Prelude type SH and that car is pretty damn quick, and parts for honda are readily avaliable (more competition=more savings for you). They're pretty heavy though, but Eclipses have always been that way too.He is pushing hard for me to get a civic, accord, or prelude (Im not a honda fan at all). Im not sure what to say to him to convince him into oking it. What are the major problems with the 3rd gen eclipses?
I dont want that just another ricer kid image with driving a civic. Around my area it seems like everyone with a civic thinks its the best/fastest car to ever hit the streets and so pretty much everyone that doesnt have a honda hates them. Why aren't you a Honda fan? Have you ever driven a 3G Eclipse? or any of the Honda's you listed? If not, you should def invest some time to test drive each of them and see what best fits what your looking for. Good luck w/any decisions you decide to make!
Im interested in your eclipsemy other car is an 01 celica gts. got the same girly stigma as the eclipse and is fun to drive. plus toyota reliabilty.might look into that.
I definitly want a Manual V6.I would forget what the salesman at the dealership says about the 3g. Obviously he doesn't know what hes talking about. The 2G was a bad. As long as you maintain it good and don't plan on boosting the V6 it will be a very realiable car. A friend of mine as a 01 GT manual with 220K miles. Never had any major issues just regular wear and tear things. But please get a Manual V6.
I was pretty surprized to.. as long as I keep it right under 2500 RPMS ..( I try everywhere to save gas) then I can afford to rev it on occasion and race some buddies without loosing to much gas..I got my 3G a mth from yesterday and its got about 136,xxx on it now and so far its been a great car...really suprised with how good of gas mileage i get with the V6

these are great cars.. dont let anybody tell you other wise, ecspecially if hes a car salesman lol...
if you like the car, ecsplain to your dad that it will be your car, you are the one that will have to deal with it, not your dad..
and I forgot, are you paying for it or are your parents? this is my first car and I just got it in March.. just turned 16 and all.
and I have a $200 a month car payment.. plus gas.. plus mods so I dont look like such a noob on the forum haha..
