I just bought a ddp turbo kit for my car. The guy who i bought it from said its better to tap the oil feed/return line onto oil filter housing, i thought it had to go to the oil pan. need opinions on this cause he confused me.

also, where should i run the antifreeze line from the turbo to.

You have to run the oil feed line from the filter housing (where the oil pressure sensor screws into). The oil return line goes back into the oil pan. That's not opinion that's just the way it is.

Antifreeze line for the turbo? I didn't know that the DDP turbo was water cooled.

yep, its water cooled, the guy told me i need to run an antifreeze, where do i run to?

http://www.cheapturbolines.com/ <-- Thanks to OrlandoGT he had a "DSM 6G72 T3/T04e" kit setup with all of the oil fittings, lines etc that you need to complete your turbo project.

I think you are referring to your air 2 water intercooler right? I've heard of water cooled turbos before, but I would like to see a pic of the one you have.

DDP Kits come with Factory Mitsu turbos(16G or 20g or something). I called and asked a whlie back.

Hey Tearstone. How did you do your oil return line? Did you jsut drill a hole then put nuts around the fitting on the inside of the pan? Kinda like sandwiching the fitting to the pan?

I was gonna get something like a bung welded on, dunno if thats a good idea. :ugh: :twothumb:

Yes, yes and yes it is worth the trouble. The turbo needs to have a gravity drain. This requires that the oil line returns above the oil level in the pan. Most "t" series turbos recommend at least a .65" diameter drain line. Insuffient drain will cause premature bearing and seal failure. It is likely that oil will blow through the turbine or compressor (if not both) sides of the turbo.

Now that was an excellent explanation! Now I want to go tap my upper oil pan :yesway:

Remind me again what is the special precaution you have to take in order to pull that oiil pan off. There was some bolt order or something to that effect. I remember Ripp guys breaking something on their engine which cost $300 to repair.

There are 2 10mm bolts that are part of the bolts that hold it in place. If you dont take those out first, they will break. Someone paid $900 to fix it, if I remember correctly.
I believe the person you are talking about did not take out the two really long bolts by the rear main oil seal.
