I am about to buy a Dual piston calipers since I cannot afford the BBK. What do I need to by exactly to do the swap? Are the pads and rotors different? anything else what might be in the way of installing them?

Thanks,

lines are the same, you just need calipers with brackets, pads and rotors. I have a set of brand new rotors here you could take for pretty cheap to help you. I may even have brand new pads for cheap too.

Thats right, youll need:

2000 GT Rotors
2000 GT Calipers
2000 GT Pads

I believe that is it. I also changed out my backing plate, just for shits and giggles but it shouldnt make a difference.

I totally removed my backing plates, I also added SS lines when I swapped

nope your powerslots are smaller
Word of advice when buying the parts man because I have a 2000 and IDK if anyone else has expecienced this hassel, but some parts places I've been to IE. Pep-boys, autozone, and some online stores group 2000-05 GT rotors as being the same and they are not. The small difference in the two causes for alot of noises and a big hassel because of the size difference. Dunno if it's just me, but that was my experience. I suggest getting from tearstone or i heard on here R1 concepts on e-bay have good rotors. Thats where i'll be getting my new ones from soon.
I knew about that from the other members on here, but thanks for keeping the thread updated for other members
NP man just wanted to make sure b/c i went through a headach over that.

2003-2005 eclipse 4 and 6 cylinders share the same exact brakes. 2000-2002 4 cyl was differnt from the 2000 eclipses produced before 5/2000, then all 5/2000-2002 eclipse v6 had same brakes
tQ to members who did the swap. Is there a really big improvement in braking with those duals?

yes and no, I felt a big differnce, but it could also be that I had brand new calipers, pads and rotors and SS lines and not really the 2 extra pistons
Well i already have SS line and even on the stock set-up I felt a difference

No I didnt. The dual calipers were the only thing that changed.

No. Not all 2000-2002 V6 Eclipses have the same brakes. 2000 GT's were the only Eclipses to have dual piston calipers up front. The rears are the same though. Hell, the rears share the same pads with 2G rears. ;)

rear is the same as the 3000GT also, jsut they have a thinker pad, thinker rotor and wider caliper, its a swap that i have looked into
Whydont you just go on ebay and Spend 400-600 and get a whole new EVO8 EVO9 Caliper set up, then go to Brakeplanet.com and buy there rotors with pads and lifetime warranty for 350 and SS brake lines from wesellcarparts.com for 98$ Thats 1k for 4-piston fronts and 2pistons rears BREMBO setup..... Shit will last you forever! and if the calipers have a lot of miles on them then get the seals changed and caliper rebuilt, no expensive at all. If your going to go brakes, fuck it, go all out its only 1,000 bucks, and three of the products out of that setup have life time warranties. Just my 2 cents

he said he didnt have the money for big brakes, which is why he's entertaining the idea of dual piston calipers. of course it would be ideal to purchase some of the best brakes available BUT he doesnt have that kind of cash.

if youre going to upgrade, look into the aem/powerslot bbk. its relatively cheap. it would provide better braking with the more surface area on the rotor. thats if you can afford a 400 dollar kit. i dont know, good luck with whatever you decide. :agreed:

Thanks, I will hold off for now since I need a money to fix my GTI then sell it.Once summer kicks in I'll have some more cash/credit card money and invest in brakes and maybe in DOHC swap !!!
