So I wasn't sure if this should go in show and shine or problem reports, but I figured here was better cuz this is a problem....so.

I'm not sure if I should use bondo to fix this break in the bumper or if I should try to refiberglass it. Opinions?

I have similar issues with my SS lip so hopefully you get some great advice on the matter since I will also probably use the same techniques recommended. I have cracks and breaks and my lip seems to be barely hanging together at the joints.
You dont' have to re-glass that.. On the rear, I'd use the Bondo brand that has the hair. And just use some filler putty on the front... that'll smooth the crack and fill it and the rear will hold it firm.
After it is fixed to prevent further damage I would add in extra mounts or try adding some rubber and metal washers. You want to distribute the weight of it more or prevent any flexing that might be taking place during high speeds. I have seen cars with these over sized airdamns that just wobble around on the highway. Where the airdamn mounted to one of these cars you could see damage just like in your photos.

now should it be sanded down quite a bit before I try to bondo it, so it is like a little groove and more surface area to adhere to or what?
On the iner part.. it looks like fiberglass hair thats unsanded correcT? on the inner part of the bumper cover you don't have to sand it, but I would use a real heavy grit. On the outside or the part that is visible... just use some 400gritt to sand any weak spots off and give it something to hold on to... If for some reason, the crack gets wider from sanding, then use a light coat of basic Bondo body filler to fill the crack. Sand the outer part real smooth some filler primer and then wetsand :twothumb:

If you were in cbus ohio I could do it for you in no time.

yeah, its just straight up fiberglass hair exposed underneath.

Thanks for the input everyone. I'm gonna buy some bondo tomorrow and get to work then i guess. I'll keep this thread updated with the progress
