What about the Hypertech programmer? I spoke to a sales person at Crutchfield that said the company that produces it will be getting into "tuner cars" like Honda, Mitsubishi, later this year. It's in their catalog now for Dodge, Ford, and GM.

well its got to be a prom of some kind, chances are good its a eeprom if a prom at all, and even if its board mounted its not that hard to remove

im betting its a full fledged flash chip tho, which makes things oh so much easier

Well there is a reason for terms like EPROM, EEPROM, and just PROM.

Once a PROM is burned, I dont think there is any chance of RE writing it.

About the mounting; how woudl you put it into a EPROM writer if its surface mount? It wont have the right pins to stick in the socket.
:duno:

Just throwing ideas around. :p

Take control of your car or truck's performance with the Power Programmer III from Hypertech. These easy-to-use automotive tuning computers don't require permanent installation, and they custom tune your vehicle quickly so you can spend more time enjoying the newfound power in your engine.

The Power Programmer III plugs into your OBDII port, usually found just below the driver's side dashboard. The computer automatically reads your vehicle's engine, transmission, and drivetrain information, then tailors the right tuning program. After answering a few yes-or-no questions, you can download the new custom program into your vehicle's computer, and you're ready to roll. And if you want to return your settings back to stock, it's as simple as the press of a button.

Benefits vary from vehicle to vehicle, but every Power Programmer improves horsepower and torque, alters shift points and shift firmness, and can raise your rev limiter. You can also adjust your settings to allow for the use of a low-temperature thermostat, so you can keep your engine's heat in check.

If you are running a non-stock tire size or gear ratio, you can enter this information into the Programmer to compensate for the differences. This allows your vehicle's top speed to match the speed rating on your tires, and corrects your speedometer and odometer readings. Some vehicles can be tuned for efficiency or performance with either 87 or 93 octane fuel — without harming the engine

sine the dealer can reflash it i doubt its a burn only once prom.

Yep had mine done a few years back.

Trev I had the same problem with the automatic hitting the rev limiter...your just gonna have to use sporty mode bro. Unless ofcourse im taking ur statement the wrong way and you have a manual :dunno: As far as removing the rev-limiter issue. It can now be done with the new and improved e-manage "ultimate" It only works on cars with a fuel cut revlimiter like ours. From what I have read it will not work with spark cut revlimiter cars.

Its actually pretty easy to shift without hitting the rev limiter.
For a while I couldnt get it right. AT 20PSI the engine revs like mad.

But I figured out that if I shift from 1st to 2nd at 4000RPM with the gas at WOT and full boost the tranny glides awesomely and smoothly into 2nd with a loud 'come-get-some' 2 second chirp.

If I shift any higher than 4500RPM I hit the rev limiter hard.
ALso if you leave it in auto- hitting the rev limiter is inevitable(on my car anyway).

All the other gears I shfit at about 5500RPM.

What tranny mods have you done and how much hp are you putting down?

Sounds like what Trev's saying is that his car doesnt start making substantial power, or at least "feel" like it's making substantial power until it's above 5000 rpm, and by then he's hitting the limiter. This is because the blower's driven off of the crank and the Stage 1 pulley isnt quite making enough boost to do anything below 5000 rpm.
