Ford spokespeople let it slip that the company is considering SVT variants of its new Edge crossover and Fusion sedan (pictured). The move would support Mark Field's statements last month that SVT is alive and well, and not on its deathbed as previously rumored. As it stands, the Mustang and an unidentified truck will get SVT upgrades, and the consolidation of SVT and Ford Racing, as well as the recent successes of the latter, will no doubt build excitement for the new vehicles.

I figured if I left it like that your manties would bunch up quicker than TE could turn on his lightsaber.

Prove that I have manties on, then prove TE owns a lightsaber. Then you can sling accusations around.

7 posts of banter...

Could be cool, the new 3.5 is rated at 265hp on regular. So a higher compression, better tuned one could easily be above 300. They also designed that motor to accept FSI, FI, etc. Hopefully they can tune the handling to match, and spice up the interior.

Hey,

Do you own any of the toy lightsabers? I know there are cheapies out there, but there are also the extremely pricey ones -- but Im going to buy one for a 9 y/o cousin here pretty soon (cause he loves crap like that).

what else would you be wearing and TE owns 5 of them.

for the cars. eh. why are they going for the performance econo box? it's kind of gay. like the SRT4 and the Evo. no more cobra I guess? I realize they got totally embarrassed on the lightning and ran off with their tails between their legs but come on. I think the Explorer sport idea was pretty cool.

besides your usual Dodge nuthugging, care to explain what you mean by that?
ford makes lightning.

dodge makes SRT10.

ford tries to make better lightning with 100more HP, AC cooled intercooler but it still can't compete.

ford decided to scrap the lightning.

You think Ford scrapped the Lightning because it couldn't compete with the SRT10? The Dodge was a full $12,000 more expensiveand was throwing up performance numbers that were only a tenth of a second quicker in both 0-60 and the 1/4. That despite the fact that the SRT10 had 200HP more than the Lightning and 75 more ft-lbs of torque. Nevermind that the Lightning could easily trump the SRT10 for a few hundred bucks on a new set of pulleys.

The best part of the SRT10? Its lack of one of the most basic purposes of a truck--no towing capability! You could still tow 5000lbs with the Lightning and IIRC about double the payload capability.

The Lightning wasn't included in the new lineup for a number of reasons, the main ones being Ford's financial woes and the negative effect the Lighting would have on Ford's CAFE ranking. It had absolutely zero to do with the SRT10.
