Could be cool, the new 3.5 is rated at 265hp on regular. So a higher compression, better tuned one could easily be above 300. They also designed that motor to accept FSI, FI, etc. Hopefully they can tune the handling to match, and spice up the interior.

I realize they got totally embarrassed on the lightning and ran off with their tails between their legs but come on. I think the Explorer sport idea was pretty cool.

That despite the fact that the SRT10 had 200HP more than the Lightning and 75 more ft-lbs of torque. Nevermind that the Lightning could easily trump the SRT10 for a few hundred bucks on a new set of pulleys.
The best part of the SRT10? Its lack of one of the most basic purposes of a truck--no towing capability! You could still tow 5000lbs with the Lightning and IIRC about double the payload capability.
The Lightning wasn't included in the new lineup for a number of reasons, the main ones being Ford's financial woes and the negative effect the Lighting would have on Ford's CAFE ranking. It had absolutely zero to do with the SRT10.

the new lightning was going to have upwards of 600hp so no it wasn't 200 less then the SRT10 it was actually more and there were reports that it still couldn't put up the numbers the dodge did.
